Yeah, awful. It's quite telling how those closest to him were absolutely blindsided by it. Talking about how he was joking and laughing. That's not a criticism of them, more a reflection on two things. First, in the interim period, understanding of mental health issues has grown and, arguably, there is more awareness folk with depression can put on a mask. Second, and as important (if not more), you really never know what's going on with someone.
It's so easy to forget when caught up in the day to day, but sometimes we just need to keep it in mind and support folk or just be a bit nicer to one another. Or ourselves.
