Gary O'neil

He was left all alone back stick. Criminal defending that day. He's still only 26, I thought he was older...We probably won't sign him though.

I think Coleman might actually have what it takes to make it here, he's looked promising whenever I've seen him. I watched him against Spain last year for Ireland under 21s and obviously in pre-season this year.

On O'Neil, I'm not so sure to be honest. He'd certainly be useful but he is around Osman's level, doesn't really help us to be honest. I have a feeling Moyes would still pick Osman over him if he was signed.

I'd rather go for a wide player with a bit more about them. Even taking a gamble on a youngster from Holland, Spain or Portugal with good technical ability. I'm a bit sick of tired of seeing decent, up and down 'runners' playing in our midfield.

I can see what your saying but to be able to compete on all 4 fronts, players like O'Neil are ideal for this. Cheap, won't ask for a lot of wages and will put in a good shift for you every time.

If we had the money we could get him in (to boost the numbers) and then go for a flair midfielder (a first 11 player). However thats all hypothetical really.

He's a more aggressive player than we have in midfield. We need that, imo. I think on occasion, especially away from home, we're far too much of a soft touch.

No idea how good O'Neill is, but I don't reckon we will sign him. Agreed Coleman has looked decent, haven't seen too much of him but he at least looks as though he wouldn't [Poor language removed] it in the prem.

Im with Dave K here, i dont see how adding Jo and possibly Senderos and O Neill for under 8 mill weakens the squad. Hopefully there may be a few more additions but those signings make us stronger and the squad bigger. O Neills stats last season and at Pompey arent bad.

Seamus Coleman also looks very promising.

I agree, it'll not harm anyone....But it'll be a fight between him and Ossie to get a game, so he'll be a bench warmer for a while.

8 million is a big chunk of our budget though.

I think he's a decent player but he wouldn't answer any of our problems, he's not going to provide the pace we lack and he's hardly going to take the creative burden of players like Pienaar and Arteta.

Seeing as Moyes is really thinking about his signings I'd like to think we are past signing up and down midfielders.

We're guessing of course with the 8 mill. Im scratching my head at this one too, ive always thought of him as a good player in average sides the last signing i thought of like this was Jags - i think ill take this one on trust for now-though i would have liked to see a little more flair.

On Senderos i wouldnt put it past Moyes turning him into a 20 mill pound player.

Think a few players will step up and surprise next season, Jo is a big one for me, Saha maybe, Fellaini and Rodwell too.

And Gary O'Neil is slightly quicker than Osman.

Missed me point. Was meant to be we need a pacy winger over Gary O'Neil-types. All he's gonna do is give a squad player in Osman a run for his money.

What we should be getting are players that give Arteta and Pienaar a run for there's.

Your so confusing Ken, jesus Christ.

£8m for him is a joke!!,total waste of money if we buy him for that much,is this what its come to,3 months of frustration in the transfer window again and now very average players are getting most fans excited, very sad state of affairs at the moment,o neil is crap lads and we know it,if this was the start of the transfer window we would be laughing at someone like o neil been linked to us!.
