Bainsey

Player Valuation: £20m
Was in the airport going to a training camp with Sheffield United, apparantly sounded very bitter towards the club

Anyone else think we should have kept him?

I liked him to be honest, I know am in my minority but when compared with Pistone, it was Naysmith all the time.

Although, I do remember Pistone having a fantastic game in the derby at Centre back at Anfield once.

I know Lescott can play in that position but i'd much rather him at centre back this season, whilst Valente isn't the most convincing with his injuries all the time and Boyle has yet to play at this level it doesn't leave much for that position.

I'm pretty sure moyes wants to boyle to come through as and when valente can't play.

Boyle did very well at norwich, glowing reports from managers, coaches and fans alike.

In fact, on the norwich fan forum I went on, they wanted to buy him!

Theres a huge step up from the quality in the championship though.

Sheffield Wednesday fans think Turner is the next big thing but whenever i've seen him he's average at best.

and pressure and not much regular football have there effects too...

I'm with you on turner, but I think boyle could be the real deal.

I rate Boyle from what i've seen in the reserves and in pre-season and think he could make it but its abit of a risk.

Everything is a risk, but we do have neville and lescott to cover should anything happen to valente and is moyes wants to take the risk then play boyle.

I always liked Naysmith - he lacked a bit in terms of quality, and it seemed to me that he'd lost some of his pace later on, but he always gave 100%.

I assume Moyes felt we had enough cover down the left, and let him go to free up a wage for elsewhere. Personally, I'd have preferred to have gotten rid of VDM, but nobody else would pay that sadsack's wages.

I won't miss Naysmith, but I do have memories of a few good things he did for us....

1-On his debut at Newcastle a great run and cross for Campbell to score a late winner.
2-Late, late winner away to Bradford.
3-Great free-kick goal against Spurs at home on a pissed up good friday evening.

Lescott DOES look impressive at centre back but I think Yobo is a better player with Stubbs to talk him through games. Yobo sometimes lacks concentration and Stubbs is the better "talker", Lescott will improve that part of his game with experience. Remember Yobo at Charlton putting his boot on and not watching where the ball was when Charlton equalised? Stubbs wasn't playing that game......

If only Danny...errr Stubbs had a little more pace, he would be the textbook example of a defender. Great tackler, excellent positional sense, great in the air, a thunderous shot, a leader. If only he had that pace........

True Dylan, if only we'd bought him in his prime.

pistone over naysmith for me.

we saw little of either but pistone was clearly the more talented and technical footballer. give naysmith his due for being a tryer and a scrapper, but sometimes it takes a little more.

I always said when Gary Naysmith gives 100 % then he will be a regular at Everton but he always gave 99.9 % which is sad.
