He's often been exposed by Spurs pace, even when he's been otherwise excellent for us, so a bit baffled as to why Koeman started him especially as McCarthy was fit.

As @Eggs said in another thread, also think the extra midfilder confused everyone with no-one quite knowing what gheir role was.

Love him and he's been a fantastic signing but the manager has to use him in the right games and probably now as a sub given our other midfield options.

Was a great signing and he's a real class act but his legs have totally gone. Passes were misplaced, he was getting in the way of his own teammates and the game passing him by. It would be a real shame if his Everton career was remembered for showings like today. A bit like Jags and Howard last season, the best thing the club can do is use him sparingly and sensibly and save him from criticism because 2 or 3 more performances like that today and fans will turn on him. it's not entirely his fault. Age happens to us all

Going to be a great coach for us, hang up your boots and start at finch farm first thing Monday morning please!!

Has anyone in our coaching set up actually told him he's a midfield player ? as soon as the opposition have it he is holding hands with our centre half's.

He's not completely useless (actually he'd be pretty good against a team like WBA) but putting him out there against a mental pressing team like Spurs was a very poor decision by RK. Same as when he was forced on against the RS at halftime, you knew we wouldn't get anything out of the game as soon as he stepped on the pitch.

Every single time and as a consequence the whole team loses its shape.

This has been happening for the last two seasons and it ruins our set up, even if he seems to be having a good game.

Hate seeing talented players carrying on when their time is up.

It must be hard for a sportsman to realise their body can no longer compete but there comes a point when you have to stop or you tarnish the good memories you have created. Father time waits for no one.

Both Barry and the fabulous servant that is Jagielka are no longer at the required level.
