Player of the season.

His work rate this season must make Ross blush when he comes off at the end of the game.

I think he is in the form of his life at the moment. Funny how yesterday the pundits and commentary of the game focused on all the English talent on display - I don't think any of them pointed out the head boy out the lot was 34 year old Gaz baz

hes been brilliant, just as good as 13/14 in which he was one of our best players
amazing that some fans dont rate him

@Saint Domingo ?

In what way though? We struggled to get the ball for the entire first half and Alli was making run after run in behind him. Spurs also unleashed numerous dangerous shots from the edge of the area, isn't that where Barry is patrolling?

I didn't see a wondrous midfield performance from anyone in blue and that includes Barry. We were schooled for large parts of the match. We also didn't create much except for the last 10 mins or so.

Besic's cameo showed how pedantry the other midfielders had been in that match.

Clearly it's about opinions. I loved what Besic did when he came on and personally I think he has more to offer than McCarthy in the same position but both need Barry sitting, holding, winning the ball and distrubuting the ball.

I think we all agree that Lukaku is our best player this season so far but yes, Gareth Barry has been decent.

I hope his experience helps on Wednesday.

Thoughts on Besic as his eventual successor?

I think Besic will.
Once he fully understands the CDM role (bare in mind the lad only started playing it at the World Cup last Summer) he'll basically be Barry with legs.

Problem with Barry is if you do manage to get past him you get a go at our defence because he simply cant get back, thats what Besic brings, you can get past him but he'll be back in your face seconds later.
