At close to 35 he's played every second of our league games and about half our cup games yet almost always is one of the best players on the pitch, quite remarkable.

The romantic in me would always choose a McCarthy and Besic pairing, but there is no doubting Gareth Barry at 35 still deserves to start every game when fit as his reading, passing and vision make up for his total inability to run.

72.7% passing accuracy today. Nowhere near one of his best games. People are really going overboard with the Barry love. I've liked him as a player since 1999 but even when he has a poor game (by his high standards) he's still deemed to have had a great one. He wasn't atrocious or anything and he won the ball back well a couple of times as he usually does but it was a below average performance for him.

I do hope bobby is already planning for the day we lose barry, gonna b a massive loss (on and off the field) with his intelligence and composure on the pitch its gonna leave a giant hole especially as concentrating on trying build a young team, maybe we should b trying get him on the coaching staff once his playing days are over

it's simply because no one else in the squad can do what he does so even him having an average game is important for our performance
