Gareth Barry

I really like him, but you can clearly see a difference how this team is playing without him. His legs are gone and we can't afford a passenger like him in the central midfield. Hope it was his last game for a long time. Wouldn't mind him coming from the bench to help keep posession and see out the game - nothing more.

Don't see the point of playing a DM who can't defend anymore. He's fine when we have the ball. When we don't he's a liability. I like Barry, but the past few weeks, we've seen an obvious difference for the better when he's not on the pitch. I like Barry, but a spot sub is all he can be anymore IMO.

class with the ball at his feet, very intelligent but needs to become a bit part player now. Sadly his legs have gone, and that little bit of sharpness you need has dulled extremely, he struggles with anyone who is either very pacy or who has quick feet.. we struggle as a team when he is in there because he unfortunately can't keep up with most PL midfielders, leaving our defenders exposed and gana gueye overworked.

Bring him on when we are winning games to finish teams off / keep the ball but his days as a starter should be over now.

Gibson....Barry...Baines

3 players this year who have got new contracts for no reason.

Jags and Barry need to go in Jan...

Tones of deadwoods shall be shipped out before these players. Gibson, Kone, Cleverley, Oviedo, Niasse, Garbutt, McAleny, McGeady, the SA unknown forward...just to name a few.

Watching barry now is like watching phil neville on the run up to the wigan game. I do like barry and he thinks he would be good to keep around an maybe move him in to a coaching role as he is a proper professional that can set an example but his playing time does need to tail off now.

Neville was subbed at half time in that game, and then never kicked a football again.
Can see Barry having a similar experience sometime soon.

Barry is still a useful squad player. A player that can guide young players and can contribute to a team when the need arises.

Up to his suspension I think he had played in every game this season and he cannot do that anymore. I doubt that Koeman intended to use him as much but the summer failures in the window meant he had little choice.
