He just gets better having a midfielder like Gayue has helped him booked again though, but what a player he must have been when younger!
I can remember him in a very tidy Villa midfield with Lee Hendrie! thomas Hitzlsperger and unless i am starting to get senile Gavin McCann?

Idrissa Gueye may be winning all the plaudits at Everton this season but his midfield partner, the evergreen Gareth Barry - now in his 20th Premier League season - continues to impress for the Blues. Ronald Koeman even went as far as labelling the 35-year-old “one of the best players he has ever managed”.

The stats back him up - at Sunderland on Monday night Barry made seven tackles, more than anyone else on the pitch. The four clearances he made doubled the total managed by any other midfielder from either side. Whilst Gueye will receive the accolades for his drives forward from midfield - culminating in his cross for Lukaku’s opener - Barry is happy to sit in the space vacated, performing the perceived ‘ugly’ side of the game.

Gueye can do what he does cos he knows Gaz Baz is watching his back.

When my Mo comes back, Gueye will be doing the sitting.

He has been an excellent signing. We need to be careful though as we have Barry, Williams, Jags and Baines all the wrong side of 30. We can't leave ourselves in a position where a large number of key players need replacing at the same time. A top quality centre mid and a top quality centre back in their 20's are a must in the next 2 windows.

....what a positive influence they must be on the younger players.
