He will be able to look back at his career and know that he gave his all and didn't waste his talent. An excellent professional who aligned his skill with intelligence and used his energies effectively. The only downside to his career is that he didn't come to us earlier when he was at his peak, though I'm sure his medals from City will make up for that.

He should always be warmly welcomed back when he visits Everton as I am sure he would by all his former clubs.

Isnt this a sign of the apocalypse?

As others have said, the quality he had was immense and had such presence that it was almost like having an extra midfielder at times, his work rate off the ball freeing up the other to be more expressive and for me, no coincidence it came at a time when Davies looked to be on a trajectory to the stars.

I remember his debut for us in a 1-0 win over Chelsea when Samuel Eto'o had pretty much a tap in right in front of the Gwladys Street and he came out of nowhere to block it and save a certain goal.

A solid, if unspectacular, player for a us and real football brain on him, I think he'll make an excellent coach or manager one day.

I was just about to mention that tackle. Still don't know to this day where he came from but what a tackle that was.

Him and McCarthy in 2013/14 probably the best midfield pairing we've had in recent years

The tone of this thread could almost make a person forget how Barry was constantly derided and damned by this forum when he was still in royal blue.

If this place existed in the 1960s people in the match threads would have been screaming for us to sell the Holy Trinity.
