Different situation, Garbutt still has a couple of years to go on his contract, and in his position he only has an ageing (and increasingly injury-prone) Baines and Galloway, who failed to impress Pulis last season at West Brom, ahead of him. There doesn't appear to be any rumors linking us with signing another left-back. I'd suggest this pre-season may be his last-chance saloon though. If he fails to impress he might be better off looking at his options elsewhere.

I honestly thought he would become heir apparent to Baines when we picked him up from Leeds. He dropped behind though and became probably 4th choice. I suspect he will find his level.

Met him at a gig once a few years back. Moved on to playing FIFA with him and a few other youth players. Was a really nice lad.

Sad to hear he's indefinitely out on loan. RIP Luke.
