Really? Thought he was a major character that was going to stick around?

I'm now beginning to regret having read all the books before watching the show.

This season in particular is flying through the various story arcs at a breakneck pace, leaving out several chunks and some notable characters. As a result, I can't help thinking the show is going to ultimately fall short in terms of entertainment, and the scriptwriters are setting themselves up for some difficulties in resolving certain plot lines yet to come.

Reading the books killed the show for me. I'll wait till the next book comes out, finish it, then pick up from the beginning of season 2 where i left off, trying to enjoy the show on its own merits(which it does have). Too much unfinished business at the end of the last book

I read the first two books then started watching the show from series 3. The books are tedious, full of unnecessary detail and nothing ever gets resolved. I can, at least in part, see the reason for the lack of resolution but it makes it a quite painful read at times. Especially when each books around 900 pages long.

Not wanting to spoil it for those who haven't read the books, so can I get back to you on this once I've a) worked out the spoiler tab; and b) finished work?
Sound. not going to read the books anyway lol

the spoiler is insert, next to the save icon on the text box btw

Read a theory earlier that Jon isn't Eddard's son but his sister and Rhaegar's. Which would make him Daenarys' niece, and if he wasn't on the wall...heir to the throne. That would throw it all open.
