Have you watched it? They could have cut the whole rest of the episode, and so long as 'Hold the door' was there..........
Yeah just now, thought Dany appearing again was pointless, I enjoyed the Castle Black and Bran/Hodor bits, would have given it a high 8 like, it's too close to a perfect score for me though.

Well that was a great episode.

To have something seem so insignificant for 6 seasons (not to mention throughout all the books) only to full reveal its true nature in such a poignant and meaningful way is just outstanding.

Not only does it explain the past, it opens so many doors for certain characters (Bran) and how their stories can develop.

Agree Float. I've read all the books so this is the first episode that has really hit an emotional nerve. If Bran's story line is at the center of everything then George Martin is one hell of a poker player.

Yeah this episode is a lot more than just an emotional death.

It signifies that there is so much more going on in the writing and that in itself was the most exciting part of the episode.

I thought the very ending with the Hodor flashback was class but other than that thought the episode was pretty meh, too much tree nonsense and aria flashback bs. Delighted the tree stuff is done with, those tree women were so lame as was the CGI for the explosions.

Hodor :(

I can't work out if it is daft or not for Sansa to refuse the Vale army and a guaranteed win, considering Littlefinger would then be the power broker.
It was mentioned back in season one or two that Ser Brynden Tully had served for several years in the army of the Vale as the "Knight of the Gate" - a senior position given on merit rather than by inheritance. This tallies up with the books. He is therefore known to Lord Arryn and may be the key to Sansa getting control of the army of the Vale without Baelish's help.

It was mentioned more than once in last night's show that Ser Brynden is alive and well, has rallied the army of House Tully and re-taken Riverrun; we know from promo photos that Brienne makes it to Riverrun; it's not a big stretch to imagine that Sansa rallies the Starks and the minor northern houses, Brienne gets Ser Brynden and the Tully troops on side and then Sansa and Ser Brynden together get the army of the Vale to dump Baelish - in the previous episode we saw Baelish trying (and succeeding) to undermine Lord Royce, the commander of the army of the Vale.

Sadly this is miles off track from the books, and we have been denied any sight of some brilliantly written sub-plots by the relentlessly dumb scriptwriters the show has hired to race ahead of GRRM. It's shaping up to be an exciting second half of the season, but it could have been so much better if they'd just slowed down, stuck to the source material and made each season fourteen weeks long.

Dont think the Dany scene was pointless, her sending Jorah away could be significant. The theory is he goes to the place Samwell Tarly is and Sam tells him all about the white walkers, when Jorah returns he tells Dany and she then goes to Westoros.
