I'm sure I saw someone mention George Martin saying the only person who will kill the Mountain, is the Hound.Surely someone has to stop the Mountain, eventually. It would be a bit mad if they reintroduced the Hound only for him to immediately die.
from what i have read he is just with septic meribald (ian mcshane), who helps broken men from the rich folks wars, so he probably won't come back in full flow, though the show has largely ignored the plight of the common folk in these wars, except for the brotherhood and that fella the hound and arya found, fighting for the ruling class's honour, revenge or wealth, the books went to great length to show these things, in fact that was pretty much brienne's main purposeSurely someone has to stop the Mountain, eventually.
