If we sell thats another replacement needed.and in todays market you would not get a decent player for the amount being offered.(n)

I think you can with 10 million to be honest. I doubt Moyes would sell if he didn't have a replacement.

I don't want to sell AJ as he is one of my favourite players, but if we have to sell him to boost our transfer funds up to 15 million, i guess we have to.

We despo need to strengthen.

My thoughts too.

But does AJ want to go? I'm sure if they did throw 12mill on the table but Moyes doesnt want him to go and AJ doesnt want to go (I read he's very settled on merseyside) -- he'll be with us next season.

I doubt he will want to, but he probably doesn't want to continue being second best to arguably one of the best strikers in the Premiership.

Wigan will offer money, first team football and they seem to have a decent up and coming young team.

Another big pulling point is the manager, he worked with Bruce at Birmingham and they ended on good terms even though he traded him for Morrison:lol:.

All the rumours where of his wife not liking it here and wanting to go back to the London area so cant see him going to the clubs mentioned so far.(y)

well if he stays we need a new song for him.....der der der der....

how [Poor language removed] is that?(n) i get embarrassed when we occasionally chant that..

dont remember hearing us sing his name this season other than against brann, and its not hard to impress against them...would much rather see him leave

I heard it most games.

Same here. I love chanting it hehe:D

Big one when we steamrolled Sunderland when I saw that. And it even got chanted at teh final game of the season against the Barcodes. Though so did Cahill's and Arteta's and I dont think they were even in the ground(y)

But you've gotta see what Moyes is going to do this season. I think what we lacked last season is working with AJ on his own up front when Yak was injured, away, or sin-binned. We just played the same as Yak was playing, and most of the time without an Arteta or Cahill etc where creativity was low.

To tackle the top clubs I think you've gotta have a team that can change its style and adapt as a team - Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal do it and its probably why the [Poor language removed] will never get anywhere near the title. Those teams all have players that can play or have class talant that can come on and change a style of play - with Man Utd they had Rooney on his own backed up by Tevez, or Ronaldo on his own with Roony behind or Tevez and they can alternate in attack for eg.

If we get midfielders in and build on that to suit 4-4-1-1 and 4-4-2 whether AJ plays over Yak, with him or to fill in for him - having a team that support its strikers to their strengths and can change and adapt freely is a step we need to make. That's not buy selling but by adding.

And what would AJ want? Mid table mediocraty or European football and champions league place battles that he probably wont get a chance to with any other team after him? To me, he seems very professional and loyal player to this club - fans love him - and would only go if he really wanted. Which I dont think he does.

I admit that he didn't have the best of seasons last season, but I would still be gutted to see him go. His electrifying pace up front really gives us a dangerous/cutting edge, putting opposition defences under more pressure. Besides for the way he torrmented the RS at Goodison the season before last and the two goals he scored that day, I would keep him for ever.

It's been a long time since we sold someone that Moyes did not see as surplus to requirements. If AJ goes before we see significant signings, it will be hard to take given how short in numbers we are and that Moyes has said several times he's not for sale.

No new signings, Carsley gone, Moyes contract unsigned, AJ on the brink - it's a long way from the Arshavin rumours a few weeks ago. We'll be registering Steve Round as a player soon :P.

Unless a ridiculous offer (15M) is made I would keep him. He always gives it his all and is still pretty young. Even if he isn't a starter we need a quality backup like AJ to get through the season.

If Wigan gets him and no one signs Valencia and Palacios that team is going to be quality next year. I wouldn't be suprised if Wigan finishes in the top 10.

Can he play right back?
