Tuncay for me. Even the Boro fans were singing "we've only got one player" a few weeks ago, he was the player. A touch of class surrounded by utter ****e.

I like him too, just don't know where he would fit for us. His most natural position is second striker, do we need another one? When he's playing up front or as wide midfielder/winger, he isn't so effective.

Downing to bring balance to the force.

I'll be shocked if any team other than Spurs take him. However if/when they get him I wonder if they'll put Bale up for sale at a cut price.

I like Bale and he usually looks decent when he plays however in a weird stat Spurs only have something like 1 win, 12 losses and a couple draws when he starts.

Well we haven't exactly been flush with options for the front two spots this year. If we had been we wouldn't have been obliged to bring in Saha and Jo. Last year we lost Cahill twice.
Plus Tuncay is versatile - can play left or right wing, in the hole or up front. He's also played at the back and in goal for Turkey.
If he's cheap and wants to risk a spell on the bench let's buy him. At the very least we need cover.

One player we should definitely not consider ever again is Arda. The Turkish media is calling for him to be sent abroad to learn some discipline...having spent more of the season avoiding training in the gossip pages than on the sports pages.

Owen & Downing I am lukewarm about. Owen has lost his pace couldn't play in our system. Downing could and give us something different. Even though I have always had my doubts about Downing a reasonable fee wouldn't be out of order.

But overall I don't care for anyone the barcodes have. Jonas hasn't the balance, consistency or work ethic to be in our team.

Not at all my liking for Barton the footballer is no secret.
You dont simply sign an ability though do you? you sign a character and personality to go with that ability. You need to have greater scope than that, mate, when suggesting signings.
And I dont even think hes a good footballer, either.

All this talk of summer signings -- really, how much money do you think Bill Kenwright is willing/is able to lash out. Only today, Moyes said, “The big point is that I think there is a fee of £4.5m for Castillo," admitted Moyes. "That would be something we would have to think about."

As usual, he ain't giving much away. There's 3 ways at assessing this:-

i) Dave thinks Castillo isn't worth £4.5m.
ii) £4.5m is like the equivalent of £20m, for the money we possess.
iii) Dave still hasn't a mister magoo how much Everton can spend in the summer,

It could be £400,000, or £4m -- and if it's in excess of £10m, I'll be gobsmacked.

If it turns out to be less than £10m -- is where we are right now (league position wise), the peak of Bill Kenwright's ambitions ?

Tbh, I'm fed-up with a phrase that is linking itself to EFC too frequent for my liking -- Everton are punching above their weight.

If we are punching above our weight, you can only get away with it for so long -- eventually, you get sparked.

I think we will have about £10-15m to spend, we have had a good season, a long run in the FA Cup, lots of TV time and decent gates, hopefully we can at the very least finish 6th which itself would bring in about £20m.

Moyes is gonna have to do his wheeling and dealing and get in a few bosmans and loans. I think he will try and spend most of the budget on 1 player, a real top drawer player. That was his plan last Summer and I can see the same sort of thing this Summer.

Thats unless the Arabs come and save us!!!:dodgy:
