Here's the smart method if you don't approve of gambling:

Once you've registered with the appropriate code, stick £10 on us to win at current odds of 1.51 (20/39)

Go on the Betfair exchange and lay £10 on us at the current odds of 1.56

Now you've covered both sides and qualified for the free shirt for a total loss of 50p. Enjoy.

Currently on this page is a casino 888 advert and when I refresh it it goes to a paddy power one.
Ive clicked them twice trying to screenshot them, shame you don't get any click money @GrandOldTeam

Hmm, think you’re splitting hairs a bit there. SportPesa is a commercial gambling company, that’s not against the law, my view remains that we have a thread encouraging people to gamble and increase their profits. Seems wrong to me , you and others disagree.

I have no strong feelings about it one way or the other to be honest.

This thread is purely to promote the fact that you can get an Everton shirt for a tenner though isn't it?

I see what you’re getting at however I started the depression thread and I like a pint.

Because alcohol causes low mood in some people should we stop everyone having a drink? I agree gambling firms should have tighter regulation though, don’t get me wrong and I’m glad your friend got help. Don’t get me started on skyBet.

But at what point do people need to take responsibility for their own actions?
I actually thought a bit before I posted as , like yourself, I contribute to the “ Whisky” thread , so was I being hypocritical in supporting that thread,? . I thought not as it’s more an informative thread than a “ go out and drink lots of whisky thread”.
I don’t have an answer to your “ At what point do people take responsibility for their own actions?” . There’s clearly a desire for us not to become a Nanny State where people can’t drink or bet at all without offending someone and people do need to take some responsibility. Equally , I would never judge someone suffering from alcohol or gambling addiction as if it was their own irresponsibility which caused it.
Differing views. I just think that in a few years time GOT will look back on this thread and think “ Oh dear” , or maybe I’m being overly optimistic in thinking that people’s attitudes to promoting gambling in football will change.

Why we moved away from Paddy Powers sponsorship, and don't accept the weekly offers we get from gambling firms... People should be able to log on GOT, and not see Gambling messages (Some slip through unfortunately but we pull them as/when we spot them)

We have to think of other ways to raise funds, forum sponsor upgrades, everton mishmash etc.

Generally not a fan of nanny culture but the volume of gambling messaging in football has to stop, and it will in time. Its ridiculous.
Do you wanna bet on that ?
