2022/23 Frank Lampard

I burst out laughing when I seen them all walk back out again. He should have reverted back to the city formation/team. How he saw no issues from that first half proves just how poor he actually is. Diabolical.
The worry is, we look lost going forward as well. Lampard has to take the blame for the style of play. Formation is less important for me. If you are not physical in the premier League you will get relegated. We are totally passive as a team. We should have gone down last year. This year, we will not be close to escaping.

Lampard has to do better than he has, even with this group of players. Soon as I saw the team sheet last night I feared the worst. Reversing out of the formation that got us a result at City plus the selection of Davies just looks like he and his coaching staff think they are cleverer than they actually are. I appreciate Onana and Gordon were out of his hands but for that performance at Goodison he should do the decent thing at a proud club currently on its knees and resign. I know he won't, none of them do...but I think a lot of us would respect him and wish him the best if he did. He's clearly out of ideas and his depth. God knows what that staff alongside him are doing. Joe Edwards is always in his ear and nothing he tells him seems to work!

Im not defending lampard but the city and brighton game were two very different set ups. If we are just accepting that playing the same way at home to brighton is the same as away to city is where we are then fair enough.
The fact that Tom Davies has to still come in then it speaks volumes as to what Everton still have to use.
Its grim.

Cut adrift by March-April.

A system where we don't play a high line with two very aged CBs would be a start. Even if our squad is rubbish there are managers who get the best out of them, not make them actively worse.
I didn’t think it was so much a high line but the loss of shape in the midfield that was the problem. The back four got no protection, no pressure on the ball, runners from midfield wandering around wherever they liked without being tracked, all the time in the world to pick passes - same issues we had last season that led to us collapsing and looking so easy to score against.

Davies, Gana, Iwobi playing the keystone cops.

Nearly a year of Lampard now and the only way we look capable of winning points is with an ultra defensive approach. As soon as we attack the team looks lost. Players are a big part of that but so is the manager.

I honestly don't feel Lampard has done much wrong.

All I see is years of atrocious recruitment.

That's the major issue here.

People fuming that Frank went 4-3-3 at home would also have been fuming if he went 5-3-2.

Stop acting like there's logic behind your incessant desire to see yet another new hair-do in the dugout.

Our central midfield department has been crippled for more than 5 years. Neither can they contribute in attack nor can they dictate the tempo of the game. Majority were slow, cowards and only good at rash tackles and getting booked. Nobody good enough to win us a FK in decent spot and no takers for FK goal either.

- Haven't got one player who can put a decent cross in consistently.

- A crippled CF who can't link up in open play and relies of headers 90% of the time.

- Selling Digne further deprived us of set pieces even though h8s standards fell towarde the end. Mykolenko makes 35 year old Nuno Valente look better at going forward and at crossing.

- CBs do not score enough from set pieces. The tallest CB we have is also the most crippled in PL.

Last night was the end of the line for Lampard. I’ve backed him as much as anyone because we need stability, he genuinely gave a crap and our problems run far deeper. Everyone knows the board needs punting out the door but I doubt even relegation would see that happen.

I suspect they’ll let this drag on another two games even though the outcome is inevitable at this point. They’ll have no backup plan. Martinez or someone equally unsuitable will be touted and the board will hide as usual. It’ll drag on for weeks and be a circus.

We could narrowly avoid relegation again like last season, but make no mistake, until that incompetent lot in the boardroom go it’s a matter of when, not if we go down. Sadly I think our number is finally up this year.

Also classic Everton that we didn’t sort this out when we had 6 weeks to do so, the absolute tools were banking on us beating Wolves on our return.

Im not disagreeing with that. Even Ancelotti did it. Even the most successful manager in Europe knew we were sh!t.
Thats why i said fair enough. If thats where we constantly are so be it.
Its just so grim that one player in our midfield last night cost more than the entire brighton midfield by almost double and yet they can press, hold the ball. Pass it. Score.

Everton are the most depressing team in England.
