Sacking lampard now will raise the question why they did not do it before the world cup. It will show weakness and incompetence and those board members have big egos.

We already know they are weak and incompetent. Incontinent too, no doubt. If they sack now, they have a transfer window and a two-week break to Southampton to get a new man in and roll the dice. If they wait, they'll have to sack later this month anyway. They will put safeguarding their remaining investment above any pretence that they can hunker down and ride this out. In hindsight we should have got rid of Frank before the world cup.

Instead the board kept him on for another month, and you can be sure they ain't got a proper replacement lined up either.
