I saw it - but one signing doesn't make a drastic difference.
If we sign a back up to DCL but dont replace Richys goals from oot wide are we still any better off?
Likewise we could sign a Richarlison replacement but had we not signed Tarks and Coady we'll have still been getting our backdoors smashed in with Keane and Holgate doing their dumb and dumber routine at the back.
Every piece of the jigsaw is important, something the "just sign a striker ffs" brigade fail to acknowledge when slating our business done so far.
Yeah. We've tightened up the back, brought in personnel to help us play 3 at the back (not sure I like that formation but it shows we have a thought process to our transfers), and have strengthened the central midfield area, assuming we complete the Gana deal, Our next priority is to strengthen the attack and I agree we need to replace Richy's goals first and foremost, then bring in cover for DCL that is a marked upgrade on Rondon. Ideally the Richy replacement could play along the front 3 and as part of a front 2. Diaz and Terrier would be my preferences from the players linked so far.
As you say, we need to look at the bigger picture, not just at one specific area. We've hopefully solved 2 problems this window with a third still to accomplish. I also think it is more important to bring in the right players, rather than bring somebody in just because we can get the deal done before Saturday's game. There are a lot more points up for grabs over the rest of the season than there are in August. There is always the risk that we leave things too late and miss the deadline, which would indeed be horrific. But I'll save chucking my dummy out until that actually happens, rather than with 2 weeks left of the window.
I still feel that we will bring people in before the end of the window. As to the quality, I'll reserve judgement on that until it happens. I feel the quality of the incomings may well depend on whether Gordon goes or not.
