For those who are impressed with Lampard, and who believe that stability is important, one can ask the question what kind of stability Lampard has brought to the club. The system is constantly changing, and one day he is positive, while the other day he throws the players under the bus, what kind of stability is that?

It must be remembered that Frank Lampard has been unlucky with the fixtures that were left to be played when he arrived. Many of the fixtures had already been played(and lost) against teams that would have given us the best chance of taking points.
I think he has had to face just about all the top teams.

Mate we got beat by Burnley who hadn't scored done anything for ages, we lost to Southampton, played Leicester at home and it was there third game in 7 days.
The fixtures could of been better I know but they weren't that bad, City and Liverpool were a right off though for certain.

I do not want us to change manager again. It’s part of our problem. He needs to be given time whatever.

Like I said, the effectiveness of Lampard is another discussion. I think with Jackson and Burnley, he's got them playing like Burnley know how to play.

It's engrained and needed finding again. Lampard has a squad who lack identify and any real style and perhaps aren't suited for what we need.

I don't think they lack an identity, the manager should know what the players strengths and weaknesses are though and then play to them. That's essentially what the new manager at Burnley is doing "not reinventing the wheel" was what he said.

I'm troubled by how little time Lanpards signings are playing. That's one issue that tells me he doesn't know what the strengths and weaknesses of the squad are.

He knew what he was doing to get the wins he’s had, same with getting the point against Leicester. He also set us up great against both City and yesterday. What can’t be legislated for is not getting pens v Southampton, City and the RS or having Allan sent off v Newcastle

If we're relying on pens for results we will deserve to go down. You make your own luck.

Keep him at all cost - whether we stay up or go down, swapping & changing managers has worked wonders hasn't it......

If you appoint a younger manager I think you have to accept an element of learning on the job. He will make mistakes, but the measure will be has he learned and made changes as a result.

If we go down he'll be desperate to get us back up first-time. Let him and Thelwell have the summer regardless of what happens.

You could see how much Benitez had calcified as a manager. He would not adapt.

Lampard has been tactically flexible, and I would argue fairly methodical in trying to find the right solution - all while keeping a calm head.

I've been impressed with that. The disaster he inherited cannot be underestimated.

Burnley who have only lost once in their last 5, winning 3 of them.

Saints who had lost 1 in 8 and beaten spurs and drew with City and United before playing us so we're in good form.

Leicester may have been on their 3rd game, but they had also rotated heavily so most of the players against us were fresh and was mostly their first team.

You act as if we had a divine right to beat them all. But then don't mention how we beat man united which will have been unexpected and an extra 3 points.

The crux is now Watford, brentford and Palace.

I like Lampard, said it before said it again, I like his ideas on how he wants to play football and he's clearly not one to blow the smoke up backsides.

That being said, I do think it is a case of the right type of manager at absolutely the wrong time.

I would never in a million years advocate Gravy Boy over Lampard, however I feel if we would have appointed Lampard when we where finishing in the top 10 he would have been much more successful, also if he didn't have a squad completely incapable of playing like he wants to play, would probably help.

I dont think Lampard is the manager for the situation we are in, personally, id love him to make me eat my words and get the club safe - but that's just my opinion.

Like Benitez before him, some of the set ups for games and management of subs have been highly suspect - but I guess that you get that with most managers outside maybe 3 in the league.

You say this but we beat Arsenal last minute under Benitez, however both United and Newcastle won with a crowd totally onside with the players, which I'm confident we will be for every home game now.

When we beat Arsenal, that was also with a crowd totally onside with the players. It was the night of the 27th minute walkout and the crowd reacted by getting fully behind the players.

I agree. I think he has tried different approaches. That is why I think he should be given time to bring in his own players and playing style.
