I like Lampard, said it before said it again, I like his ideas on how he wants to play football and he's clearly not one to blow the smoke up backsides.
That being said, I do think it is a case of the right type of manager at absolutely the wrong time.
I would never in a million years advocate Gravy Boy over Lampard, however I feel if we would have appointed Lampard when we where finishing in the top 10 he would have been much more successful, also if he didn't have a squad completely incapable of playing like he wants to play, would probably help.
I dont think Lampard is the manager for the situation we are in, personally, id love him to make me eat my words and get the club safe - but that's just my opinion.
Like Benitez before him, some of the set ups for games and management of subs have been highly suspect - but I guess that you get that with most managers outside maybe 3 in the league.
