Fourth Place?

Holy crap...I go out for a round of golf, and the forum's gone bonkers. 4th? Hahaha...6th would be phenomenal...especially is the RS were tucked in behind in 7th.

A cup final would be more than satisfactory.

I like cheese too, but seventh ain't beyond us, it's "nailed"

No chance.

As great as we played against City and Chelsea, our match against Wigan showed how maddeningly inconsistent we are.

I think 7th is a reasonable objective at this rate.

I'd take tenth and an FA cup semi final show. I have said for ages we are in transition, Moyes can't move quickly to alter the squad in any meaningful overall way, so piecemeal alterations and average age dropping is the best we can afford.
What i'd like to know is, where is the next gem going to be found - I have become fat on the talented bargains Moyes has found or resurrected - where is the next Pienaar, Arteta, Cahill ?

Straq, Drenthe, Vellios? Could be...

Velli doesn't count as he was signed as a kid, and kid signings skew the figures due to how many are released and brought in that are eventually passed over.
Straqua and Drenthe are established players, Denny was passed over by Leicester FFS and Drenthe has been sat on his hands at Real.
I want to see a lower league player signed, 'Andy King' for instance. A chance taken on a 'Lescott' type. (Jags doesn't count because we used the relegation buy out clause to get him so cheap).

Got to admire the over confidence -but just assume that Everton achieve "par" in the remaining fixtures that would be the average result each opponent has achieved (either home or away according to the current table) - that's a reasonable place to start & after all we are mid-table.

Home: (opponent's current away record shown)
Arsenal 5-2-6 - a draw will be a decent effort
Spurs 6-3-3 - a draw will be about right
Fulham 1-5-6 - should expect to win this one
Sunderland 4-2-6 - should win this one
WBA 6-3-4 - draw
Newcastle 5-3-5 - win

3 wins 3 draws

Away (opponent's current home record)
Stoke 4-4-4 - draw
QPR 2-4-6 - win
Wolves 3-2-8 - win
Swansea 5-6-2 - draw
Norwich 5-4-3 - draw
Man U 10-1-2 - loss
Liverpool 4-8-0 - draw

2 wins 4 draws 1 loss

Total 5-7-1- 22 pts. 55 pts - Likely to finish about 8th on that basis.
If somehow we can pull off a few better results here and there we might get a few more points but that's reasonable. Given we have lost only 6 of 59 in the last 7 seasons at home, post Xmas, we might expect a fair return at home. We tend to be very average away (wins = losses). So something like 22 points, one way or another, would be ok. You're dreaming if you think we'll make it nearer 33!!

BTW - if Utd & City achieve the same results against their respective opponents as the first time of meeting (earlier in the season) they would finish on 91 points each

I dreamed us to fourth. Had to be a dream cos no one else remembers it.

Lets see what the cup does, lets see how CL and EL fare on them in it. We wont get fourth, not by a long way, but we could surprise a few with the players we have due back and a couple of unknown quantities.

Yes we generally play well in the second half and all that, but to only predict one loss in 13 is VERY optimistic. However, we could pull a result or two that are considered draws, so I'm on board with the 22 point total. Fair and realistic.

4th is too far, we need to win 3 more games than Arsenal and Chelsea between now and the end of the season. Unlikely.

Catching Liverpool is a possibility. 6 points behind and we still play them so it is surely on. Shame Donovan won't stay until the end of the season.
