Fylde had an extra week to prepare for Charlton and a strong side was named for the visit of the Addicks. John Jones showed how dangerous he was from set pieces when he crossed into the box, Henderson flicked it on and Feeney fumbled it over the line to make it 1-0 on 7 minutes! Henderson took the corner from the right on 15 minutes but it was cleared away, Hutson chased it down and knocked it to Jordan Wilson who hit it first time on his left foot from outside the box and it went into the back of the net! Great finish! It was all Fylde in the first 20 minutes and Tyrone O'Neill was desperate to get on the scoresheet, he latched onto Henderson's long ball, beat the defender and had his shot palmed away by the keeper. It was a good first half for Fylde but Charlton were growing into the match and one goal could make things difficult for The Coasters. Steve Stockbridge came on for Mark Morton 10 minutes into the second half, Morton was looking error prone out there. Fylde defended well in the second half but could not find the third to put the game to bed. Jimmy Dube pulled off a great save on 87 minutes to deny Charlton a way back into this. Brown took the corner and Sam Gibson done well to clear it away. What a season Gibson is having. It was never in doubt and Fylde get another three points with a two point gap over second place Wigan.

DF: Another good performance, the lads are doing what I'm asking and it is showing. Wilson is turning into a magnificent midfielder and John Jones is one of the best left backs I've had at the club. Feeney was outstanding as well and he has been fantastic for years here. We are a close team and we work hard for each other out there.

Two points clear at the top of the league and a midweek away trip to 23rd place Crewe Alexandra. O'Neill pulled wide to receive the ball from Henderson, he played it back to him and darted towards the box, Henderson tried to search out Bytheway in the area but it was headed away, O'Neill took it down, got it onto his right foot and forced the keeper into an acrobatic save to deny him hitting the top right corner. The pressure was building and Crewe were backing off, John Jones took advantage of the space down the left and crossed low into the box, it was cleared and Marshall got his foot to the ball and slotted into the bottom corner to make it 1-0 after 24 minutes! John Jones took the corner on 27 minutes, Hughes made a good save punching it away but Henderson got the ball and took the shot on his left foot, the keeper saved it but let it run free, Henderson shot again and put it in to make it 2-0! Reece took the throw-in for Crewe deep in the Fylde half, Fisher knocked it back to Reece and he crossed for Priestman who took it down well and shielded the ball from Gibson, turned and hit the shot but it deflected off Gibson and went in, 2-1. Jordan Wilson took the ball in the centre and played it left to Henderson, he took it on his right and cut inside running towards goal at top speed, the Crewe players backed off and the Fylde fans could see something special emerging, he launched it from 20 yards on his right foot and it swerved into the back of the net like a rocket to make it 3-1! What a finish from Euan Henderson! 20 minutes to go, Jones played it to Henderson who was on a hat-trick, he passed it to Jones who played it central to Jordan Wilson, Wilson turned on it and hit a lovely strike into the top right corner, 4-1! Fylde are flying! Jordan Wilson leaves the field to raptures of applause from the away fans as he is replaced by Brett McGavin. The next number to go up on the board was number 11 and the fans roared Euan Henderson off the field as he was replaced by Jack Quinn. Ferguson making changes with the fixture of Yeovil in the cup approaching at the weekend. It's a win for Fylde as they stretch their unbeaten run in the league to 12 matches.

DF: Hendo will be buzzing with that performance, I'd say that was his best this season and he still finds ways to fascinate me. The second goal was incredible, and it was what he does best, you cannot allow him space to run into because he will punish you.

Yeovil Town vs AFC Fylde
F.A. Cup Second Round
29th November 2031

=Yeovil result.webp

A chance for both teams to make it to the F.A Cup Third Round and have the prospect at playing at one of the Premier League giants if a draw favours them. Fylde rested Mark Morton with Steve Stockbridge playing at right back. Christian Hutson played behind Tyrone O'Neill after Declan Marshall went public over his lack of first team football. The positive news this week was manager Duncan Ferguson put pen to paper on a two year contract extension ending possible rumours of taking over at Cardiff City. Paulo Oliveira was their second choice for the job. Jordan Wilson went for the spectacular on 27 minutes which the keeper tipped over the bar, the first real chance of the tie. Henderson won the second ball and played it wide to Bytheway, Bytheway lobbed it forward for Henderson and his left footed shot was saved at the near post by the keeper Tommy Smith. John Jones was not having much luck with his delivery from corners but his cross from the free-kick on 32 minutes into the box which Bytheway headed down and Hutson put over the line was sublime! 1-0 to The Coasters! The goal gave life to the game and Fylde gained the momentum, Henderson played it long for O'Neill who took it wide and played it back to John Jones, he crossed first time into the box and Bytheway was unmarked to get his 7th of the season! 2-0! The second half went on and Fylde became sloppy giving the ball away too easily. Canavan crossed low into the box on 76 minutes and Asare arrived at the back post to slot it in to pull one back. Fylde were picked apart too easily. Yeovil could sense the nerves from Fylde and won a corner on 90 minutes. Asare crossed and Fylde tried to scramble it clear, Bligh played it to Darlison and he smashed it home to make it 2-2! The crowd erupted as the ball hit the net, it's a typical cup tie here at Yeovil. You could feel the equaliser coming. Seconds left to play, Hutson played it long and O'Neill beat the last man and tried the shot which the keeper tipped over the bar. John Jones took the corner and what will be the last chance of the match, Tyrone O'Neill got up for the header but the keeper saved well and held the ball. The Yeovil fans cheered and the whistle blew as the ball went up in the air. A replay will be scheduled at Mill Farm and a disappointing second half for Fylde.

Yeovil didn't deserve that equaliser.

Truly the stuff dreams are made of.

Anybody know when we’ve booked in the mid-season slump this year.
