Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

If David "Needle in a Hay(stack)" thornthwaite thinks he csn get better than Ferguson, then I'll just do what I done last time....I'll brick every window in his house.

Well I thought it was his house cos it said 29 Winthorpe Drive but I didn't realise the 6 was broken and he lived at 26 Winthorpe Drive.

Good job the Hellsethorpes took it in good jest and I only had to hold them hostage for 4 days until they agreed they wouldn't press charges

Damn you David you ferret fiddling shotgun pointing wig wearing tosser!
Sound family the Hellsethorpes

I suppose a tandem is a type of bike.

edit: yes, she's really turned herself around. Bravo Mrs H!

I think I fell in love with her once because she looked like Charlene out of neighbours. I sobered up and realised she looked a little more like Madge Bishop. Good job I had a soft spot for both of them so it got me through the weekend we never spoke of since that weekend which never happened because I don't speak about it.

HARROGATE VS AFC FYLDE
28th March 2026

=harrogate result.webp

Mark Warburton was the new manager of Harrogate having been in the role for 2 weeks prior to the home encounter against Fylde. Harrogate came close to scoring early on from the corner but Tariq Lamptey headed clear off the line. An early warning for Fylde and a tough afternoon could be in store for the visitors. Harrogate pushed Fylde back and allowed them minimal time on the ball but eventually Fylde found a way through and the short pasing football paid off as Townsend spotted the run of Henderson and played the ball into the area for him to slot past the keeper to give Fyle the lead. Harrogate hit back getting the ball into the wide areas and a cross for Cox to head past Hadler rattled the back of the net. Danny Smith was replaced with thirteen minutes remaining by Wright=Phillips after making some dazzling runs down the right wing and some decent balls into the box were not capitalised on from the Fylde attack.

Dover Athletic vs AFC Fylde
3rd April 2026

=dover result.webp

It was the the first of two fixtures over the Easter weekend and Fylde took a long away trip down to Dover. Dover seemed to have an outside chance of reaching the play-offs but that dream took a knock on 7 minutes when winger Wright-Phillips scored from the ball forward from Josh Ferguson slotting low into the bottom corner. Fylde won the ball back in midfield and kept the pressure on Dover with the home crowd beginning to become tense, Ryan Croasdale, the club captain who had worked his way back into the team was a shining example on how to dictate the tempo in midfield. Okoroji got forward in the first half often and supplied a cross for O'Neill to narrowly head over the bar. Dover's Umerah looked to latch onto the forward ball inside the box and Feeney made a challenge that the referee awarded a penalty for, the decision a shock for many Fylde players as it looked like Feeney won the ball but it seemed a heavy challenge. Alex Hunt had the chance to equalise for Dover, the high shot towards the top corner was saved by Tom Hadler! Hadler had been a great acquisition this season for Fylde making decisive saves. Fylde needed that second goal and it came on 55 minutes after Wisdom found Ferguson in acres of space outside the box, a crashing shot into the top corner was not going to be saved by any goalkeeper as the Dover fans were furious for the lack of closing down. Dover offered a threat in the remaining 20 minutes hitting the post before the ball was cleared to safety. Dover got one back after the initial corner was cleared to Alex Hunt who played a short ball to Umerah and he knocked it one into the box for Dean to bury. It was a nervy 15 minutes for Fylde, Dover keeper Mitch Walker took the goal kick but the ball was won in the air by Croasdale, Ferguson picked up the ball and drove forward through the centre, Wright-Phillips receieved the pass and broke into the box but was tackled before he could get the shot away, the lose ball ran free to O'Neill who hit it first time into the back of the net, the goal Fylde needed with 5 minutes to go! Dover grabbed a goal back on 93 minutes but it was nothing more than consolation from Alex Hunt's strike and Fylde travelled back North will all three points.

AFC Fylde vs Tranmere Rovers
6th April 2026

=tranmere result.webp

Duncan Ferguson urged his players to get all three points even if its 'ugly' in his pre-match press conference against play-off hopefuls Tranmere Rovers. With a tough away fixture coming up against Wrexham at the following weekend, Ferguson said his side had to win the game against Tranmere. Josh Ferguson had been struggling for fitness leading up to the game but he started the match. McGavin fed the ball out wide to Wright-Phillips who crossed to the far post for Henderson to head but he hit the post, the rebound came back to him and he thrashed it over the line to give Fylde an early lead after 10 minutes. Henderson was in fine form and was looking to be crowned player of the season two years running, his shot on 20 minutes just grazed the cross bar from 20 yard out. Fylde were in control of the game and Henderson was playing fantastically well, a lobbed ball into box took five Tranmere players out of the game and Paul Townsend done the easy bit of knocking the ball home, however the assistant referee flagged on the far side making the right call. Three points in the bag for Fylde as play-offs began to look a certainty.

DF: We got the job done and that's all I wanted. We go to Wrexham on Saturday and they are a hard side to play against, they come forward in numbers and play quickly on the counter, we have to watch out for that. We have a home game agaisnst York three days later so this week is a critical week in our season. I want the players fully focused on Wrexham and we must stop them.

Wrexham vs AFC Fylde
11th April 2026

=wrexham result.webp

The meeting of 2nd vs 3rd with both teams vying to secure that 2nd place spot. It was a cagey first 5 minutes, both sides feeling each other out but Tom Hadler sprung into action making an acrobatic save to deny Wrexham from a free-kick. Dan Fisher who replaced Josh Ferguson had a good effort saved early on to deny the visitors. It was 10 minutes on the clock when Warren Cotton showed lethal prowess and smacked his shot against the post but Sam Allaway was there to react to get his 31st goal of the season. The lead was doubled on 25 minutes after Russell crossed from the right wing and Cotton got his 11th of the seasn with a belting shot past Hadler. The keeper furious with his defence after allowing him so much space. Wrexham keeper Lee Burge was making great saves from shots from Townsend and Henderson, both attacking players testing the keeper and getting into space. Fyle kept the pressure on, Wright-Phillips striding to create space for a shot outside the box but it was narrowly over. A tough afternoon for Fylde and the points and 2nd place is looking more likely to go to Wrexham.

Fylde suffered a 3-1 defeat in the reverse fixture earlier this season and if Ferguson had learnt anything it was to stop the threat of Porsteinsson and Dimitri Sea. Dan Fisher remained in the side with Josh Ferguson still unavailable for selection. Euan Henderson, in his crearive role played a forward ball for O'Neill but the defender got their first and played it back to the keeper, the pass was too short and O'Neill kept running, chasing the ball and managed to get there before the keeper and bury it past him, Fylde off to a great start against promotion rivals. Fylde grew into the game as the half went on and Henderson hit a stinger of a shot just before the end of the first half. Tyrone O'Neill was causing problems with his off the ball movement allowing Wright-Phillips to get away an early shot at the start of the second half that just went over the bar. Wright-Phillips appeared to be struggling with a calf injury and was replaced by Danny Smith. Porsteinsson was contained pretty well in the first half but given space he can create and he played a forward ball to Rhys Hughes who slotted past Hadler on 59 minutes to equalise. Danny Smith was causing havoc as usual and a cross for O'Neill to hit a volley beat the keeper, 2-1! No! The flag was raised, a very close call ruling out the goal! Smith came forward again, this time with a well hit ball for the volley of Euan Henderson who smashed it into the roof of the net, there it is! 2-1! His 21st goal of the season. Dan Fisher was looking exhausted and he was replaced by Kyle MacDonald who made up a defensive midfield three and MacDonald almost scored from Smith's corner but McGavin blasted it on the way through to secure the third for The Coasters. It was still far from over and into stoppage time, Porsteinsson had a free-kick which he sent into the box for the head of Fetahu who hit the bar and the loose ball was stabbed in by Hartshorn, Tom Hadler was in no mans land and the defence were clueless also. Fylde had to defend for the remainder of the match and Porsteinsson was given too much space to send in crosses, Fyle eventually closed down with Henderson making a great tackle and running forward with the ball to the sound of the referees whistle and the cheers from The Coasters!

DF: York are a top side and it's great we got the points today, it's been a tough week for us but we took 6 points from the last 3 games and we keep moving. Wrexham beat Orient to secure 2nd and Orient are down, it's a shame to see a well supported side like Orient in the 2nd tier of non-league football. Today's win gives us a great chance of finishing third, we've got two tough games coming up and we have to finish the season with the momentum we've created.

What a win that was.

Gotta stop conceding stoppage time goals though, Dunc needs to knock a couple of heads at the back because it just ain't acceptable because I had 20p on us to win 3-1 which would have earned me my pie dinner and they all ballsed it up again.
