Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

When you say magic, macca do you mean we’ll have some semblance of promotion hope before being ultimately crushed by playoff disappointment?

Fylde that.

UTFC

That's EXACTLY what I mean mate.

But for those 11 minutes when we are in the lead and everything is going for us, I wouldn't change those 8 minutes for the world, not even for the additional 3 minutes I missed out to make 12 minutes (11 minutes of heaven and 1 minute where I drift off somewhere even I don't know where to)

Take That were right in a way, it only takes a minute girl. Think they should have gone with 11 minutes though as that deffo covers all angles of our play off heartbreak.

I can't believe we're even in contention still. Utter toilet of a league. The curse of Forest Green.

A toilet sounds too posh doesn't it mate, it's like a stinking pish bucket of absolute crap that's fed to little piglets living on a farm that are running short of cash cos they ain't getting enough money for the milk.

Damn you Tesco and Asda of this world!

CLUBS MONITORING FERGUSON SITUATION

With the 2025/26 season drawing to a close, Duncan Ferguson is aiming to guide Fylde back into the football league after they were relegated in 2023. Ferguson has remained a fan favourite throughout his tenure and in his second spell as manager holds a win percentage of 48%. Fylde were deemed one of the National League favourites for promotion this season after many years of ending the season with last minute disappointment. The Fylde chairman David Haythornthwaite is beginning to lose patience and rumours are he will not tolerate Ferguson as manager if they remain in the National League. The rumours have led to some football league clubs keeping an eye on Ferguson who many believe can do a job in a higher division. Ferguson managed Bolton with no budget and was getting results in the Championship. Bolton, under Ferguson were not far off being in play-off contention but the pull to return to Fylde ruled his heart and Ferguson dropped back down the leagues to fix the mess the club was in after relegation from League Two. It could have been a decision that could have destroyed his managerial career but Ferguson has fixed the problem at Fylde and has them competing at the top end once again. If David Haythornthwaite was to terminate his contract, I'm sure there will be plenty of offers on the table.

If David "Needle in a Hay(stack)" thornthwaite thinks he csn get better than Ferguson, then I'll just do what I done last time....I'll brick every window in his house.

Well I thought it was his house cos it said 29 Winthorpe Drive but I didn't realise the 6 was broken and he lived at 26 Winthorpe Drive.

Good job the Hellsethorpes took it in good jest and I only had to hold them hostage for 4 days until they agreed they wouldn't press charges

Damn you David you ferret fiddling shotgun pointing wig wearing tosser!

AFC Fylde vs Newport County
7th March 2026

=Newport result.webp

Newport County were the visitors to Mill Farm and it was Fylde taking control in the first 20 minutes, the closest they came to scoring was through Paul Townsend's header on 8 minutes that was inches wide of the post. Bret McGavin had a chance to score from a free kick on 26 minutes but his shot deflected of the wall and landed inside the penalty box to Mark Connolly who tucked it away with his left foot, great reaction from the defender to put The Coasters in the lead. Fylde knocked the ball around well and Townsend came close getting ahead of the defender but the keeper get his shot out. The 19 year old striker making a nuisance of himself in the first half and surely must be a target for Ferguson. Fylde continued to control the game putting a good defensive performance, Billy Price got off the bench and got 12 minutes under his belt, a 1-0 win for Ferguson and Fylde to keep moving with the pack.

Sutton United vs AFC Fylde
14th March 2026

=sutton result.webp

The match started with intensity and it was Fylde who took the game to Sutton after the 2nd minute when Josh Ferguson who drove forward and laid it off for Henderson to get a wonderful shot away in to the top corner. It was a good start for The Coasters but Sutton's danger man Ben Hinchcliffe equalised for Sutton on 9 minutes getting between Feeney and Connolly to blast into the bottom corner. Ferguson highlighted the threat of Hinchcliffe with the playr capable of turning a game round and the pace was quick between the two sides. Okoroji picked the ball up from Connolly and played a fast ball down the pitch for Townsend to chase, the 19 year old used his pace to get on to the ball and buried it into the bottom right corner. Fylde 2-1 up inside 20 minutes. Fylde came close to making it three when Ferguson drove forward with the ball, hesitated about a pass to Townsend and struck a dipping shot that almost beat the keeper but hit the bar and bounced clear. Great half of football! Ben Hinchcliffe was still a threat to Fylde and Mark Connolly had the experience to deal with him for large parts of the game but the pace of the striker was too much and he broke free of the defence and levelled again for Sutton. Sutton were on top in the closing ten minutes of the match but Fylde absorbed the pressure and created one more chance, O'Neill came forward with the ball down the left flank and crossed for Wright-Phillips who had two shots blocked by the Sutton defence. Okoroji kept the pressure on sending the ball back into the box but it was put behind for a corner. Last chance of the game, Okoroji played it to the edge of the box to Wright-Phillips who went for the first time shot but the Sutton players defended well and cleared the ball to safety as the whistle blew for full-time.

DF: You can see why Sutton are on a similar points tally to ourselves, they are a good team and they have a very talented player in Hinchcliffe, we both made it hard for each other and I have to admit a point is fair, to come away from here with a point keeps us moving in the right direction. Josh Ferguson had a good game today and a new contract has been offered, we want to keep a young talent like that here at the club.
(On rumours of job uncertainty) Whose job is safe these days? The chairman wants this side in the football league, we all do, we are all fighting for that opportunity. It wouldn't be normal if there was no unrest, the chairman is showing ambition and wants the best for the club.

AFC Fylde vs Woking
24th March 2026

=Woking result.webp

The confidence was growing within Fylde and struggling Woking were hoping to deny Fylde a victory. It was the home side pushing Woking back from the start and with Woking putting everyone behind the ball it was frustrating to break them down but Fylde were at their best and Euan Henderson glided down the wing like Joe Cardle in his prime. Henderson was hard for Woking to contain and got Fylde off the mark on 53 minutes when he danced past the defence and unleashed a cracking shot on hs right foot that the keeper managed to get a fingertip to but could not keep it out. Minutes later Fylde took a short corner, Lamptey picking up the ball and crossing it to the far post for Henderson but he couldn't jump and it seemed he was pulled back by his marker, penalty given! Henderson wanted to take it but after missing his last two, Townsend took the ball and placed it down, the young striker put it towards the bottom right but the keeper got across and palmed it away! Fylde kept the pressure on Woking, Okoroji and Lamptey playing high up the pitch pushing Woking back and getting crosses in but headers were going wide or over the bar. 82 minutes on the clock and Wright-Phillips was fouled in the box winning Fylde another penalty. This time Henderson was taking the penalty and he put it straight into the bottom coner to put Fylde ahead by two goals. It was a tough outing for Woking and another three points for Fylde to keep them in play-off contention.

LEAGUE TABLE

league table after 39.webp

Carlisle United have secured a play-off spot if they fail to win the National League and Fylde nine points clear of rivals Blackpool and looking likely to be one of this seasons occupants of a play-off place, however the higher they finish the better their chances. Fylde have a game in hand on the teams above them and it puts them in an advantageous position.

Fylde remaining fixtures

28/3 Harrogate (A)
3/4 Dover (A)
6/4 Tranmere (H)
11/4 Wrexham (A)
14/4 York City (H)
18/4 Maidstone United (H)
2/5 Forest Green Rovers (H)

That's a hard hard run in.

How hard?

Very hard.

I hope we can make it into the top 2 but would settle to not fall out of the play off positions. And of course stuff them Greens with good old Coaster prime sausage on the last day as we give them a good pumping. Make that Griffiths regret the day he was born Coasters!

Finishing 2nd or 3rd gets a bye to the semi-final with 5th playing 6th and 4th playing 7th.
