Preston just missed out on play-offs last season in their bid to return to the Championship and are facing a different battle this season - two points from the relegation zone. Fylde will be hoping to return to winning ways to keep the pressure on the top two. The crowd at Deepdale were encouraged after 7 minutes when Mel Pope brought down Jimmy Gregory inside the box and gave away a penalty. Gregory took the kick himself and put Preston 1-0 up inside the first ten minutes! Bret McGavin got the ball to Henderson who cut inside and took the ball over to the right but unleashed a right footed shot that flew low into the bottom corner, what a goal! Euan Henderson with one from the scrapbook! Preston faced a tough Fylde back line and Overton was putting some good balls into the box. Dootson came close from Okoroji's cross just before half-time when he headed over the bar. Bytheway got the ball to Dootson five minutes into the second half, he took it past two Preston players but got lucky with the bounce and kept the ball at his feet, played it out wide to Henderson who played it low into the box and O'Neill met it with his left foot to put Fylde in front! News got round in the second half Rochdale were beating Luton 1-0. Can Fylde hold this lead inside the last ten minutes? Preston had been poor since going a goal down. Second half substitute Alan Brown rattled the crossbar in the 86th minute giving the home fans a much needed lift. Preston were coming down the Fylde left with Williams on the overlap but Stockbridge kept the ball out and Allaway was there to clear. The whistle went and it was relief for Ferguson. A good win for Fylde.

AFC Fylde vs Ipswich Town
24th February 2029

Fylde could go level on points with leaders Coventry with a win if results go their way. Ipswich look set up to nullify the Fylde attacking threat. Dootson was controlling the tempo and getting the ball into dangerous areas, Bytheway struck the post and O'Neill headed over the bar with two of the better chances in the first half. It was bad news for Fylde before the end of the first half when Dootson went over on his foot and had to be taken off. Josh Ferguson came on in his place. Fylde had to watch the threat of Dennis Plummer up front, the striker cracked the post just after half-time. Sargent and Allaway came on in the second half and Josh Ferguson got a nice through ball to Sargent but the keeper got down to make a great save. The match ended as a draw with minimal action and no deserved winner. It was disappointing for Fylde as they failed to capitalise on the Luton Town and Coventry City defeats.

DF: The injury to Charlie Dootson is serious and he's going to be out for a couple of months. He'll be a big loss in the final run-in of the season. We've got a massive game next week away to Coventry which is a pivotal game in our season.
