=Birmingham result.webp

A midweek visit to fellow League One side Birmingham City. Ferguson pointed out the danger in the Birmingham attack, most notably Zach Clough. Ferguson made changes to his team, Sam Allaway on the left and Barry Sargent up front. Ryan Scott and Mel Pope were the two midfielders and Garrett and Stockbidge played at full back. Fylde came out brilliantly pegging Birmingham back in the opening minutes, Garrett getting forward to cross into the box but Birmingham were defending well, Allaway played a nice ball back to Garrett who crossed for Bytheway and headed against the woodwork! Great start for The Coasters. Birmingham got the ball into the box, Alan O'Neill missed the tackle and Zach Clough buried it to give Birmingham an early lead. Birmingham held their lead but Fylde were playing some nice attacking football, Henderson came on in the 57th minute for Allaway to add more quality up front for Fylde. Sargent came close to equalising after he broke clear of the defence and the keeper parried his shot wide. Parry took the Birmingham corner with 13 minutes to go, Morgan Feeney cleared with the header but Clough tried a shot from the edge of the box and it whistled past the bodies to double their lead. This one looks over for Fylde. Henderson got on the end of Danny Smith's cross a minute later but his header was narrowly wide.

=Southend result.webp

Ferguson stated in his pre-match press conference that the league was his main priority and wants to give the fans a worthy display against Southend and he wasn't wrong when just after ten minutes McGavin played it to Ferguson who blasted from 25 yards out into the top corner! Fylde were in total control, Morton played it to Ferguson who lobbed the ball over the top for O'Neill to slot underneath the keeper from inside the box! Fylde go two up! Fylde were putting in a high quality performance and Bytheway put in a low cross to the back post for Henderson to volley in to make it three! What a first half for The Coasters! Fylde remained disciplined and kept it simple with a 3-0 lead. The team defended well as a unit. The second half was well seen out by Fylde and O'Neill had the best chance of the half when second half substitute Danny Smith crossed for him and he headed against the bar. It was a brilliant performance from The Coasters who remain unbeaten in League One!

=Bradford result.webp

Duncan Ferguson's side were off to a great start in League One and tonight's match was a sell-out at Mill Farm with The Coasters supporters enjoying their fantastic start. Euan Henderson got the fans up on their feet early on when he ran at the Bradford defence but his finish was just over the bar. The match settled down and Bradford came close on 38 minutes when Phil Stone got away from Nathan Smith to head inches wide. Mick Wisdom was denied by the keeper with a 20 yard free-kick 5 minutes into the second half winning his team a corner. Fylde were creating chances but not putting them away, the match entered the last 30 minutes and no change in sight for The Coasters. With 20 minutes to go, Okoroji played it to Henderson who brought the ball forward but held his arms up as he had no options, O'Neill came back to receive it, turned on his left foot and hit a swerving shot which beat the keeper! A goal out of nothing taking everyone by surprise! Tyrone O'Neill scoring goals for fun lately! Barry Sargent was about to come on but Ferguson changed his mind. Fylde went close in stoppage time with Feeney getting on the end of Morton's cross and hitting the bar. The Coasters fans show their delight as the referee blows the final whistle! Another win for Fylde, they are making it look easy in League One!

DF: We got the goal at the right time, I could see the frustration creeping in around the stadium and it was a massive relief, we played our own game well and the attacking football in the final third was great on the eye. Tyrone is playing his best football of his career and we hope he can continue his rich vein of form.

OMFG

Apart from wanting to smash the rs u23's should we be resting players for the rest of the games or are we going for it this season?

I wasn't that fussed on getting knocked out of the league cup tbf at the 1st hurdle. I've got one eye on Champions League qualification and just 2 more promotions and approx 70 wins spread across the next 3 seasons should see us finish at least 4th in the Premier League.

That a team with the stature of the Coasters has never won the league Cup should be a source of great embarrassment to the club.

Sorry it out lads. UTFC!

Chesterfield vs AFC Fylde

=Chesterfield result.webp

First vs Second in an epic early season encounter. Fylde were already exceeding expectations and the footballing style Ferguson was playing was impressive. Vince Bytheway and Alan O'Neill had settled well into the club and Tyrone O'Neill was scoring goals for fun. Chesterfield had won 5 out of 5 and the odds were stacked against The Coasters. Chesterfield were finding too much space outside the box and hit the post and the crossbar on two separate occasions. Fylde were defending well with O'Neill and Smith holding firm. Fylde went into the break at 0-0 and Duncan Ferguson decided to put three in midfield with Josh Ferguson being replaced by Ryan Scott. 65 minutes gone and Fylde still hadn't registered a single shot, so far been penned back in their own half and Chesterfield were throwing everything at them. Neil Foster was making some fine saves to keep Fylde in the game. Fylde were struggling to make an impact, McGavin played it out wide to Danny Smith and he hit a hopeful forward pass for Sargent to chase and he got one on one with the keeper and put it wide! Sargent looking likely to go 15 matches without a goal. The referee called time on the match and it was a deserved point for Fylde.
DF: We struggled to play our game but I'm happy to come away with a point and we limited their chances. Defensively we were solid and to be under the cosh from the first minute like that shows how well we kept our focus.

AFC Fylde vs Luton Town
26th August 2028

=Luton result.webp

4th placed Luton travelled North for their away match against Fylde. Manager Theo Walcott is in his second season as manager and will be hoping to guide them to the Championship. Euan Henderson missed this weeks training with a thigh injury and was on the bench with Sam Allaway starting. The first half had minimal action with both teams unable to break the deadlock, Luton failed to have a shot but Fylde never created anything substantial. Euan Henderson took to the stage with 30 minutes to go and the home crowd were encouraged to see their star player coming on. Josh Fergudon played it to Henderson on 65 minutes who knocked it past one and hit a shot on his right foot but the keeper saved comfortably. A minute later winger Ormsby found Jordi inside the box and he buried it past Foster to give the visitors the lead. Fylde struggled to create anything and Ferguson decided to gamble by taking off Wisdom for Sargent with an emphasis on attack. Bytheway picked it up deep and played it inside to Sargent who got it out wide for Henderson to chase, Henderson crossed into the box but the Luton defence cleared it away. Luton came and snatched the goal to give them all three points on a terrible afternoon in front of goal for Fylde.

Should be docked points for having a shitty airport.

We go again. Trust the lads. Trust the coach.

AFC Fylde vs Liverpool U23's
Checkatrade Trophy
29th August 2028

=Liverpool u23 result.webp

Fylde were playing goof football in the first half with Garrett and Morton pushing high up the pitch and Allaway trying to create chances but Liverpool held the line well and dealt with the danger. Allaway fed the ball wide to Danny Smith who crossed low for O'Neill, O'Neill took a touch and buried it past the keeper! The Liverpool midfield was tiring and Fylde were pressing well, Allaway played in O'Neill but his shot was saved by the keeper. Danny Smith played it to Allaway who ran at the defence with pace, broke into the area and his low driven shot was just wide. Allaway having a good game this evening. Lee Lofthouse was given a rare first team appearance replacing Tyrone O'Neill with half an hour to play. Liverpool got into the match and on 80 minutes levelled the scoring when McManus shrugged off Morton and scored past Foster. The game was level after 90 minutes and with no draws in this competition, the match went to penalties. Lee Lofthouse was up first for Fylde, Woozley saved! The keeper palmed it away! Liverpool's Kovalenko was up next, he went for power down the middle and Foster stopped it! Liverpool missed the chance to take advantage. Mel Pope tried trickery and played it down the middle for the keeper to save! A terrible penalty and Duncan Ferguson is furious. McManus with the chance to put Liverpool in front, left footed down the middle sending Foster to the right! Ryan Scott didn't mess about and blasted into the top right corner but Liverpool still had the avantage. Sharman took their third penalty and Foster saved it comfortably! The score 1-1 after three penalties. Josh Ferguson took the fourth penalty and placed it low in the bottom corner! Gibbons stepped up for Liverpool and went to the keepers left and Foster guessed right with a great stop! The fifth penalty and if Fylde score they win, winger Danny Smith with the chance to give Fylde the victory and he stepped up confidently, The keeper tried to put him and Smith sent the ball low to the right and struck the post! Liverpool's Angus must score to keep his team in the game, he blasted into the roof of the net and we go to sudden death! Sam Allaway took the sixth penalty, and he put it low into the back of the net! Beecroft looks nervous as he put the ball down, and he puts it into the bottom left corner! Mark Morton's turn came and he hit it with his favoured right foot and the keeper kept it out! Koenig had the chance to win the shootout 4-3, he sent Foster the wrong way and scored into the top corner! Liverpool U23's are awarded two points and Fylde are awarded one.

DF: It's always difficult to see a game go to penalties and they can go either way, we played well tonight and were unlucky not to win, we dropped out concentration in the last ten minutes and it allowed them back into the match. I take all matches seriously and I always want to win, I would like Fylde to win trophies and the Checkatrade Trophy would be good for the club. We have to get back to winning ways in the league and we travel down South to AFC Wimbledon which will prove to a tough fixture.

Barry Sargent and Alan O'Neill were away with Wales U21's and Republic of Ireland U21's respectively. Morgan Feeney came in for O'Neill to form his familiar partnership with Nathan Smith. Feeney came close to opening the scoring from Wisdom's corner with a header against the outside of the near post. Wimbledon got the ball forward and Toyne hit the post on 13 minutes, Hinchcliffe reacted first to the loose ball and put the home team 1-0 up. Fylde had a chance on 30 minutes, McGavin played a wonderful ball into the box for Mark Morton to run onto from the right and he hit the post. McGavin controlled the midfield with a nice pass to Henderson inside who unleashed a shot with his right goot and the keeper palmed it over. Fylde in total control, McGavin again finds Morton who breaks into the box but the keeper tips his shot wide! The teams went in at half-time and Fylde should really be in front but the Wimbledon keeper has made some impressive saves. Ther second half didn't live up to expectation and Fylde struggled to get anywhere near the Wimbledon goal, the home team took all three points and looked like they were there for the taking.

Charlton Athletic vs AFC Fylde
9th September 2028

=Charlton result.webp

Fylde had a week to prepare for the trip to Charlton Athletic and O'Neill was back in defence for The Coasters. Charlton were in excellent form taking 13 points from their last 5 matches. Charlton put Fylde under some early pressure but Foster was keeping the score level. Fylde could only hold Charlton off for so long and Pirone got the ball to Dixon who turned inside the box and planted the ball into the back of the net. Fylde brought on Ferguson for Scott in the second half and tried to get back into the game, Bytheway had a shot straight down the throat of the keeper just after 50 minutes. Barry Sargent came on for Tyrone O'Neill who was struggling in front of goal. Charlton won the ball back in their own half and got it forward quickly to Bughail-Mellor who had the beating of Morton and scored to double Charlton's lead. Okoroji launched a long ball forward for Sargent to chase and the striker's shot was palmed away by the keeper. Charlton were the deserved winners today and move up the table but it is looking disastrous for Fylde.

DF: We gave the ball away cheaply and struggled to play football. Credit to Charlton who were much better than us and took their chances. We have to get a hold of this before it spirals out of control.
