Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

Oooooo that sounds like fun. Hopefully they wait until I've watched Neighbours and Countdown, had a fry up, quick paddle in the pool outside, bit of shopping at Hoke&Bargain, Rob a trolley from the local market, build a bonfire, nip round to Tracy's for you know what, chips egg and beans for tea and then straight over the road to catch the 8b bus, then bunk onto the 14f straight to the car park to watch a good old fashioned genuine heartfelt illegal scrap
Reckon you can bring some of them chips egg and beans down if you don't eat it all?

I'll get me mum to make some extra for ya, she loves it when she's chocka with things to do for me like my cooking, cleaning and as a special treat I always give her two bin bags worth of clothes Friday morning to wash and iron ready for me for Friday evening (when she drops off me Friday/Saturday tea and Sunday Roast) she likes to drop them off early as she knows I can't be arsed seeing her over the weekend as I usually have 'guests' to entertain if you know what I mean.

As you know mate, her front door is always open to my mates, though she keeps saying it's her back door she keeps open but I have to keep telling her it's the front door everyone comes through.

I can't keep up with all these little phrases she comes up with, she's boss though so it's not worth me telling her she's nearly as stupid as me

It was wholesale changes for Fylde as they took on 6th place League One side Burton Albion. Sam Allaway was leading the line for The Coasters with support from Simpson, O'Neill and Danny Smith. The first half was quiet, Fylde having the better chances but nothing troubling the goalkeeper. An early lapse in concentration in the second half almost saw Feeney's blocked clearance roll past Foster but the keeper was aware to the danger. Tyrone O'Neill was clutching at his thigh on 50 minutes and was replaced by Josh Ferguson. The score still at 0-0, Ferguson brought on Henderson for Simpson with 15 minutes to play. Mick Wisdom came close with a free-kick which wasn't far off target going over the bar. The whistle was blown and it was penalty kicks to decide the winner. Fylde were taking the first penalty, Euan Henderson to take.........straight into the back of the net! Tiffoney was up against Neil Foster, the taker took his time and put it straight at Foster! Saved! Fylde midfielder Mick Wisdom had the chance to make it 2-0, with his right foot....saved by McCracken! Now it was the winger Nemane for Burton to get them back level, rocketed into the top left corner! The third penalty came to Danny Smith, the winger who has hardly featured this season, straight at the keeper! A poor penalty. Amos now with the chance to put Burton in front, left foot shot low....he hit the post! Josh Ferguson to take the next kick, he lined it up with his right but then switched to his left, over the bar! What on earth was he thinking? Burton's top goalscorer Rob Harker to take the fourth penalty and to give his side a real advantage, bottom corner, hard and low, Burton take the lead with one kick remaining. It was all down to Sam Allaway, who took a slow walk up from the halfway line. Allaway has to score.....into the roof of the net! The pressure is on Burton to finish the game. Miller against Foster, Foster stands casually on his line, Alex Miller sends him the wrong way and Burton win the shootout!

DF: Penalty shootouts can go either way but I'm disappointed with some of our penalties tonight. One in particular which I won't mention right now. On the whole, to draw 0-0 with a good side is a positive result for us. The defence were solid and we just couldn't break them down. We have to quickly turn our attention to this weekend against Peterborough United who are desperate for points.

=PETERBOROUGH RESULT.webp

Bryan Johnson tested the keeper on 6 minutes when Wisdom played the corner to the edge of the box and Johnson hit a low drive into the keepers arms. A positive start for The Coasters saw them keeping possession very well. The first goal came on 12 minutes when Danny Young got hold of the lose ball inside the box after the free kick was played in and buried it past Foster to give the away side a rare lead. Mark Morton was forward down the right and volleyed in a cross for Henderson who headed over the bar from close range. The ball was launched forward for O'Neill to chase which he got on the end of, he squared it to Ferguson in the box who was brought down....penalty! Henderson took hold of the ball for the spot kick but had been told to calm down by his manager during the first half as he was seemingly frustrated. Henderson put it down the middle......1-1 on the stroke of half-time. His 13th of the season! Wisdom played a nice ball to Garrett who crossed from the left but Graham cleared it back to Wisdom who laid it off for Garrett to cross back into the box, this time it beat the defence and O'Neill rose up to head against the bar and down onto the line, the keeper tried to save it but he knocked it in! Fylde back in a familiar position! Daniel Shamalo was dangerous from free-kicks and his cross found Beckwith who beat his man and headed in at the front post. It's 2-2! Minutes remaining and Fylde were searching for that winner, McGavin sprayed it wide for the run of Morton down the right, he crossed to the far post to find Henderson who got his second of the game! Stoppage time remaining and Peterborough put on the pressure. Ferguson bolstered the midfield in a defensive manner but Peterborough seemed determined to equalise. Neil Foster made some great saves from close range and Fylde stayed camped in their own half. Henderson played a nice ball through the defence for Johnson but the keeper got down well to save with his feet. Feeney was brilliant at the back to clear the danger on countless times. Duncan Ferguson punched the air and breathed a sigh of relief as the whistle went for full-time.

DF: Great spirit and passion shown in the second half to come back to win, I was impressed with Morton down the right he was up and down doing a great job and really helped us win the game. All credit to Peterborough because they kept coming back and they came here to win so credit for them for giving it their all. I'm proud of my boys today, these wins will go along way in this league.

Walsall vs AFC Fylde

=Walsall result.webp

Bret Mcgavin cut out an important pass from Walsall on 6 minutes and instantly played it forward on the left to Henderson who put it low into the box for O'Neill who slotted it past the keeper to give Fylde a great start. O'Neill was really in the mood throughout the first half after grabbing his third goal of the season allowing Johnson to get into good positons inside the box but his shots were not troubling the keeper. Neil Foster done briliantly getting down to feet to make a great save on 35 minutes and keep Fylde in front. Henderson fouled Jennings 25 yards out to give away a dangerous free-kick for Walsall and this is how they conceded in the previous game. Edser crossed low to Musah who buried it low past Foster, it was all too familiar and very predictable from Fylde. An area of their game they need to work on. The defence just backed away from him. Early in the second half, Fylde built up slowly and got the ball wide to Garrett who crossed for O'Neill who had to back peddle t win the header and he got it towards the far post but there was no one there to knock it in. The game tied at 1-1 and Walsall were strong in the midfield, Fylde brought on Simpson to go up top with O'Neill dropping behind. Mel Pope came on and tried the the long ball forward for Johnson but he was flagged offside with seconds of the game remaining. Neither side able to get a winner here but Fylde make it sixteen games unbeaten in League Two.

LEAGUE TABLE

League table after 16.webp

Despite the draw with Walsall, Fylde are ten points clear of second placed Rochdale who have a game in hand over The Coasters and will certainly be looking to reduce the defecit.

It's mid October and after 16 league games, Fylde are top of the table and still unbeaten. Nobody expected an early dominance from The Coasters so what has been the tonic for this early success?
Euan Henderson has made the most contributions so far this season with an impressive 14 league goals and 5 assists. The defence has been in excellent form with Morgan Feeney and Nathan Smith forming a formidable partnership at the back. Neil Foster has been impressive between the sticks keeping 4 clean sheets so far and the 23 year old is only going to improve.
Duncan Ferguson has avoided all questions on Fylde's current form and has refused to talk about their early chances in this division. He has only too often seen things fall apart, leaving himself and his team scrambling to salvage their season. The results have not been lucky, they have been down to Fylde being the better team on the day and playing an attacking style that allows players like Henderson and Johnson to terrorise defences. So far, nobody can get near them and Henderson is by far the best player in League Two. We are a third of the way through and Fylde fans have every reason to be confident. Port Vale are the next visitors to Mill Farm and it seems Fylde are the side with the bullseye on their back.

Even the Koppites agree with Coaster Star being possibly the best in the world!!!

AFC Fyle vs Port Vale
19th October 2027

=Port Vale result.webp

Ferguson made a few changes for this midweek fixture with Okoroji and Lamptey coming in at the full back positons and Mel Pope replaced Mick Wisdom. An early chance was taken by Port Vale, Reece McAlear found himself able to launch a long driven shot into the back of the net whioch caught out Foster from range. Johnson done well to get down the wing on 7 minutes and find Henderson in the box but the winger's header cannoned back off the post into the keepers hands. Fylde were playing well despite trailing and the Port Vale keeper was keeping everything out. It seemed like an equaliser was due. Johnson whipped in the corner from the left and it was Henderson at the near post to knock it in! A minute later Johnson took another corner from the right and found O'Neill at the far post who headed in to put Fylde in front! What a quick turnaround and was it ever in doubt? Johnson was looking dangerous from set pieces, he crossed in for Feeney from the free-kick and he nodded it across for O'Neill to head in! No goal, the flag was up. Fylde looking dominant once again. Fylde were hitting Port Vale with a flurry of attempts at goal and the keeper was doing a great job keeping the score down to a minimum inside the first half. What a joy to see Fylde really taking the game to the opposition and looking very lethal. 5 minutes to go until the break and Port Vale's Damian Hill tried his luck from 20 yards out, his shot beat Foster and hit the post, rolled across the line and hit the other post and went in! A crazy moment in the game but it puts Port Vale level! Fylde had been very dominant in the first half and should have done better with their chances. Fylde's Henderson smashed the post on 54 minutes and Mick Wisdom came on the pitch for Mel Pope. Josh Ferguson got on the end of the clearance from Port Vale's corner and he was urged to run with the ball, he got into the opposition half and O'Neill was looking for the ball, a nice dink over the top found O'Neill who lashed his shot over the bar from 12 yards! A golden chance wasted. That was the end of O'Neill's game as the home crowd roared Sam Allaway onto the pitch hoping he would make the difference. Four minutes added on, Morton came on to the field, he found Johnson on the byline who crossed for Allaway but his header was tipped over. An energetic game draws to a close, both sides gave it everything they had and a draw was probably a fair result. Samuel Amedu played brilliantly in goal for Port Vale and earnt his side a good point.

Gillingham vs AFC Fylde
23rd October 2027

=Gillingham result.webp

With two draws in their last league games, a win today against a good Gillingham side would show how Fylde can bounce back. Fylde started proceedings and Morton crossed to Henderson after 30 seconds for the winger to have a free header at goal and he put it into the side netting. What a chance for The Coasters. Ferguson took hold of the ball outside the box and tried a low driven shot which went in on 35 minutes! The Fylde players finally find the breakthrough! But it was not be, the referee is ruling it out! Duncan Ferguson was asking the referee what the problem was as the goal looked perfectly legal. Apparently Tyrone O'Neill was standing in an offside position obstructing the goalkeepers view. Three minutes into the second half and Alan Page found Lopes who smashed it past Foster in the blink of an eye. Gillingham took the lead whilst Fylde were napping. 59 minutes on the clock and Fylde with a free-kick just outside the area. Wisdom hits it with his right foot, over the wall, the keeper stretches to get there but it rattles the net! The lead didn't last long and it was a case of whatever you can do we can do better as Jay Sproson smashed in a free-kick and ran to the fans with his arms to the side. Gillingham back in front. Fylde with no response and the game ran into injury time. Wisdom's free kick cannoned off the wall and behind for a corner with 2 minutes to go. Wisdom tried the outswinger but was cleared away and retrived by Henderson, Henderson ran it out of play with a terrible touch. Gillingham in possession with a minute to play, Wisdom tackled brilliantly to win the ball back and get it out wide to Johnson, Johnson plays it to Morton on the overlap who has options inside the box, Henderson arrives at the far post.....2-2! Knocked in by the league's top scorer! The whistle is blown and its a late equaliser for Fylde that salvaged a point from this game.

DF: I thought that was our first defeat and we didn't really deserve to get anything after a turgid second half. The first wasn't that great either. Henderson popped up at the last to get us a point so we have to take that as a positive and be more clinical in future.
