F.A. CUP FOURTH QUALIFYING ROUND
Macclesfield Town vs AFC Fylde
17th October 2026

=Macclesfield result.webp

Fylde had not enjoyed recent success in the F.A.Cup, they got to the third round in 2022/23 and were knocked out by Reading. Macclesfield were on a good run of form in the National League North and Fylde were slipping up in their league campaign. It didn't take long for the first goal when McGavin won back possession in the Macclesfield half, played it forward to Townsend who squared it for Hutson scoring his first Fylde goal. Mick Wisdom doubled the lead not too long after with a curling free kick on the edge of the box. Two minutes later Croasdale played a ball for Wisdom to chase onto and he struck it well trajecting straight into the top right corner. Fylde flying and not letting up. Paul Townsend wanted on the scoresheet but he headed over the bar from Lamptey's cross just before the half-time whistle. Ryan Elliott was getting a rare start alongside Kyle MacDoanld and he was responsible for giving away a penalty kick on 66 minutes pushing over James Williams in the box after the free-kick was whipped in. Neil Foster had a chance to make a name for himself early on in his career when he faced Ashley Bell from 12 yards. Bell hit the spot kick and Foster was down to it getting a fingertip to the ball but it wasn't enough to keep it out. Billy Price came on for Bret McGavin for the remaining 15 minutes and it was Fylde who progressed to the first round of the F.A. Cup.

Hartlepool United vs AFC Fylde
24th October 2026

=Hartlepool result.webp

Back to league action, Fylde needed to start winning games to realise their title aspirations and 8th placed Hartlepool stod in the way. Christian Hutson kept his place after getting off the mark a week ago and Tyrone O'Neill played behind him as Josh Ferguson was recovering from a back injury. Fylde started well, passing the ball around quickly looking for the opening, Hartlepool sat deep waiting for Fylde to give the ball away to regain possession. Tyrone O'Neill threaded a nice ball through for Hutson who hit it with his right foot and the keeper made a great diving save to push the ball away. Fylde started the second half in the same manner, Mick Wisdom hitting a free-kick just into the side netting. Hartlepool were on high alert to keep the ball out, O'Neill's header across the goal cleared away by the sturdy back line. The introduction of Paul Townsend made no difference to the scoreline and it seems Hartlepool were happy to keep a clean sheet and get a point.

AFC Fylde vs Southport
27th October 2026

=Southport result.webp

Southport were trying to survive in the National League going into this game in 19th position, first time in the National League in seven seasons. Fylde needed the win and it started in the right way, Ryan East scoring a great swerving free-kick after 30 seconds sending the home fans delirious. It wasn't smiles for long when Fylde were caught high up the pitch and Southport launched a counter attack, Rigby running forward and lobbing the ball over Connolly for Bull to chase and bury past Neil Foster. The sides went in level at the break and it seemed Fylde could not get going in the second half, the passes wasn't connected, the fans were becoming antagonised and Southport came into the game, Feeney kept his head at the back and managed to get the ball down the right for Lamptey, he came forward and saw the run of Lofthouse over the far side, a great ball in to Lofthouse who hit it at the keeper and won the corner. The Fylde fans encouraged by the youngsters effort. East took the corner and O'Neill got his head to it but the ball was cleared away. The pressure was growing on Ferguson to get something out of the game and it looked like the world collapsed around him when Bull rose above Connolly getting the better of him a second time, Neil Foster made a mess of the clearance and Bull got in to knock it over the line. Ferguson had 14 minutes to get something from the game and it seemed the players were not doing what he wanted. The fans were furious and Feguson had no hiding place. After getting off to a magnificent start, he was just threw it away at home to Southport and hasn't won a league game since the 15th September. Ferguson was confronted by angry Fylde fans at the whistle. "What's going on Duncan? You've lost the dressing room!" Ferguson took a few minutes to listen to the fans concerns and promised them there will be an upturn in results.

Boreham Wood vs AFC Fylde
31st October 2026

=Boreham wood result.webp

With supporter unrest growing around Fylde, the board still had faith although they had not publicly stated it. The results had been poor and the game against Southport was a massive realisation for most supporters. Ferguson had remained tight-lipped in the build up to the Boreham Wood fixture and was still considered a great to a section of Fylde fans. Josh Ferguson was back in the side and after recovering from injury, Tom Hadler was back between the posts. Josh Ferguson looked up for it and had an early shot go inches wide of the post. As the half was coming to a close, Boreham Wood had a last chance with the corner, Pendlebury rose above Feeney and headed towards the far post but Lamptey was there to clear, he got the ball stuck between his feet and Wakeling prodded home to put Boreham Wood in front at a pivotal time. Fylde needed the equaliser fast, with time ticking away Lamptey crossed for Henderson who headed against the crossbar! Fylde had to rescue something from the game but they lacked firepower up front, it makes you think if Sam Allaway would have been the saviour. With minutes to go Fylde pushed for the equaliser, every man forward, MacDonald chasing down the ball before it goes out of play, whipping it back into the box, Henderson was free at the far post....surely he must score....the keeper keeps it out! That was the chance. Ferguson has his head in his hands on the touchline. The whistle goes and Ferguson is off down the tunnel.

DF: We have been in a disastrous run of form. These players are capable of much more than what they are showing and the chances we are creating just aren't going for us. I urge the supporters to stick with us, it's not good, I suffer just like they do, I hurt and the results get to me. We will work to turn this around.

Has anyone else seen the back page of the Fylde Trumpet?!?!

There's Fergie laughing it up with Miss Fylde at the annual hog tying competition with all the lads on the ale. I am proper fewming here. No wonder they've been stinking up the league recently.

We need direct action against this bunch before they ruin our great club's ambitions.

I'm proper spitting feathers here.

I've had a word with the lads, no kick offs, kept it calm, made it clear that I felt they were letting the fans down, looked each one of them in the eye and told them what I expect.

Unfortunately someone tipped off the police that I'd kidnapped the lot of them on the team bus so I'm in custody atm but I think my message has got through to them.

Don't fear lads, watch results pick up from here on in!

I went solo for this one Jimmy.... Well I took my twin boys Tango & Cash with me as it was there 15th birthday and I'd taken them to the Burtonwood service station as a treat which is when the Fylde team bus pulled up.

Obviously they were made up as they'd only just got their Fylde Tatooes that morning and air rifles so they just wanted to show Dunc and the lads but you know macca, 2 double cheeseburgers and I'm sound but 3 double cheeseburgers and that colonels secret recipe gets me all pumped up and emotional and the browns touching the cloth like last seasons Bovril Bonanza!

They said I'll be out of here soon if I can make bail and I said "oh yeah of course I can make Gareth Bale come down and sign all your truncheons you massive helmets"

Gareth text me back and said he'll sort it anyway for me and sign all their xxl helmets ( he owed me a favour after I translated a chippy order for him when he first moved to Madrid so we've become decent mates) and that seems to have done the trick.
