Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

These are the glory days. Remember Clueless Kewell and how bad it was? Well this season might be the day we draw a line in the sand and put our best foot forward as we plunge head first into the deep end of success.

I saw Harry last week. He's now involved in sales. He was dressed as a burger doing some rustlers burgers promo thing on aisle 4 of Farmfoods.

I got Cindy (my 4th daughter aged 2) to chuck some burger buns at his head the massive weapon. Shes got a throw like Glen McGrath so pinged him with an absolute ripsnorter

Woking vs AFC Fylde
15th November 2025

Fylde wasted no time in getting on the scoresheet and Josh Ferguson played in Tyrone O'Neill who placed the ball into the top corner from 12 yards out after 4 minutes. The Woking keeper made an excellent double save on 8 minutes after Wisdom's free kick and then again from Paul Townsends rebounded effort. Tyrone O'Neill put the ball in the back of the net 2 minutes later but the goal was ruled out as the striker was marginally offside. Fylde certainly taking the game to Woking in the opening minutes. O'Neill got his second towards the end of the half after Henderson's through ball, O'Neill belting it into the top corner. Fylde certainly looking in top condition. Morgan Feeney had a header off the post a minute later from Danny Smith's cross and Fylde were in complete domination throughout the first half. Feeney got the goal he deserved this time heading in from Wisdom's free kick into the box, Fylde 3 goals up and in well control. Woking grabbed a late consolation in stoppage time to deny Fylde a clean sheet, Fylde players finding themselves out of sorts when Hoey managed to score from the corner which was poorly defended by Fylde.

It was back to Mill Farm for the F.A. Cup first round replay against League One Crawley Town. Crawley threw everything at Fylde in the original fixture and Fylde managed to come away with a hard fought replay. Now at Mill Farm, it seemed different for The Coasters, they came out playing with tempo and getting the ball forward. Mick Wisdom drifted in a lovely taken free-kick on 19 minutes which was met by the jumping Tyrone O'Neill but the header was slightly over the bar. O'Neill almost scored again ten minutes later after Henderson's pass but the keeper found it easy enough to grt to. Fylde fans enjoying the football so far but bad news came when O'Neill had to leave the field when he went down to the ground in obvious pain. The extent of the injury is not known just yet, Kian Robinson came on for the striker. The game continued to be end to end in the second half with both sides testing the keeper but nothing significant. Fylde seemingly happy with the how the game was panning out. Aaron Newman received the ball out wide for Crawley and took it forward into the box beating Okoroji, Okoroji fought for the ball but upended Newman giving away a penalty with 8 minutes remaining. The whole Fylde team holding their head in their hands livid with Okoroji's mistake. Colley stepped up for Fylde and edged towards the ball, hitting it towards the right but Hadler got across and palmed it clear! Great save and the fans erupt into cheers! Fylde still in the game! Crawley started to put the pressure on going into the last seven minutes and Okoroji's poor clearance went back to Pemberton who got in a successful cross to White, climbing above MacDonald to make it 1-0 to Crawley. Fylde tried for the equaliser, Danny Smith finding the head of Paul Townsend who put it over the bar, that was the chance! Crawley attacked late on and Ranieri had a hopeful shot from outside the box that Hadler managed to get across and save onto the post but the ball crossed the line confirming victory to Crawley in an unfortunate cup tie for Fylde. A game which they battled hard and had nothing to be ashamed of.

It has emerged Mark Connolly has suffered a rib injury before the Crawley match and that was the reason for his absence. The defender has been sidelined for approximately 3-4 weeks. This leaves Ferguson with a slight problem, Kyle MacDonald will fill in for Connolly but Ryan Elliott is currently on a season long loan at Nuneaton Borough. It seems unlikely he will be recalled. The injury sustained by Tyrone O'Neill was not serious and he will be fit for the weekend's game against Harrogate Town.

AFC Fylde vs Harrogate Town

=harrogate result.webp

Fylde started the game with O'Neill on the bench and Robinson up top with Townsend. The first real chance of the game came after 20 minutes, Robinson played the ball for Townsend to chase and it seemed harder to miss, Townsend putting the ball wide of the post. The striker slumped to the floor and will be ruing that missed opportunity. The first half fizzled out without too much to talk about, a possession based game of football with little action at the end of it. Henderson sent in a cross for Kian Robinson in the second half, the striker getting in front of his man and getting the volley on target but Harrogate's Graham White blocked the shot on the line! O'Neill replaced Robinson and with 20 minutes to go had a headed opportunity towards goal which was cleared away by Mason Reece and out for a corner. Reece again heading clear, out-jumping Henderson from the corner. Harrogate doing all they can to hang on at this stage. Danny Smith received the ball outside the box from Wisdom, with little options available, the winger brought the ball forward and got his shot off but it drifted just wide, the keeper looking beat. The final whistle blew on a game with one clear cut chance - Paul Townsend's early effort which he put wide when one on one with the keeper. Two points dropped for Fylde and a point gained for Harrogate. Wrexham's away win over Blackpool will edge them closer towards the top and close the gap.

With the injury to Mark Connolly keeping him out for the next month, Ferguson brought in Sam Cook on loan from Bolton Wanderers until the end of the season. The 21 year old centre back has made 5 Championship appearances for Bolton so far this season and before that spent the 2024/25 season at Rochdale in League Two making 33 appearances. Sam Cook can also play left back if required.

Tranmere Rovers vs AFC Fylde
25th November 2025

=tranmere result.webp

Tranmere came close to taking the lead against league leaders Fylde with a well hit free kick that Tom Hadler acrobatically saved in style but minutes later Mick Wisdom's corner aimed towards the edge of the box paid off when MacDonald volleyed into the top corner, Fylde taking an away lead at Prenton Park. Tranmere's Lopes caught Hadler off his line and managed to turn and shoot inside the box into a gaping net to equalise for Tranmere. Josh Ferguson had a late first half chance but his shot was well over the bar into the stands. Tranmere almost went 2-1 up 5 minutes into the second half, Patterson crossing for James who's header bounced inches wide of the post. Paul Townsend had a glorious chance to score, when Wright-Phillips put in a great ball, Townsend catching it on his knee but putting the ball wide, half of the ground thought it was in and were relieved to find it had gone wide. Tariq Lamptey gave the ball away further up the pitch and Tranmere came forward, James getting it into the path of Oshin who rocketed it past Hadler to make it 2-1 to Tranmere. It all falling apart for The Coasters. Fylde had the bit between their teeth, Henderson gliding down the wing, crossing for Wright -Phillips but he hit the post and Tranmere scramble the ball to safety. Kian Robinson replaced Josh Ferguson with 20 minutes remaining and went three up top with support from Henderson and Wright-Phillips on the flanks. Tranmere had a chance to put the game to bed with 5 minutes left on the clock, Brian Bertschin's furious shot had Hadler beaten but it narrowly went wide of the post. Ferguson had one last throw of the dice, Danny Smith coming on for Wright-Phillips as we head into stoppage time, Tranmere comfortable in possession running down the clock, they came forward and the fans begging the referee to blow for full-time. Seconds remaining and Tranmere with the ball forward intercepted by Kyle MacDonald, MacDonald pumped the ball forward for Robinson to chase but Martineau got there first and casually played it to Patterson....Robinson intercepted the pass on the left wing and used his pace to run clear of Patterson, Robinson spotted O'Neill making a run in the centre towards goal and crossed early for O'Neill, O'Neill took the ball on his right foot and pelted it past goalkeeper Ethan Dawe! The Fylde players ran over to celebrate with O'Neill who fell to a heap on the pitch! What a moment and what a saving grace for Fylde! There was no time for the restart, the whistle blew up and the away fans celebrated taking a point which should keep them top of the league table, but with Carlisle and Wrexham hot on their tail!

Next up for Fylde is an away trip to 17th place Forest Green. Fans of both clubs see this as a simmering rivalry and it is unsure where this has developed from. What we do know is we will see Russell Griffiths step up against the club he played for, for 7 years. Griffiths left the club in the summer after turning down Fylde's offer of a new contract and joined rivals Forest Green Rovers.
