Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

dover result.webp

Withers and O'Neill started up top but it was the defence on both sides who had the better day. Chima OKoroji reinforced the manager's opinion that he should be a regular starter with a man of the match performance at left back. Morgan Feeney had a solid game in defence dealing with the counter attacking football played by Dover. Fylde tried to remain patient in their build up, getting the ball wide to swing into the box for the front men but Dover kept their shape and came away with a well deserved point. A tough frustrating day for Fylde who could have done with all three points in their bid for promotion.

F.A. CUP FIRST ROUND REPLAY

peterborough replay.webp

Ten days from the original fixture, it was time for the replay and Fylde went there with fighting spirit. Fylde were in control away from home and played scintillating football at times but just could not find the breakthrough. Tyrone O'Neill tested the keeper after a good through ball from McCann from midfield with the keeper palming to safety from the fine left footed strike. Fylde kept the pressure on, having 70% of possession but it was Peterborough who broke the deadlock on 75 minutes. Rendell was in acres of space when the ball could only be cleared to the edge of the box and Rendell curled one in to the top left corner giving Peterborough the lead and a win in the cup. Fylde being the better side on the night but did not take their chances.

DF: We give it or best shot and I could not ask for any more than that. The effort and work rate was fantastic and we were done by one goal. It's unfortunate to exit this competition early on but we need to turn our focus back to the league and start getting some results on the board. Performances have been steady but I know we are capable of even more.

I was 3 of the 278 away fans at Peterborough and Rendell was trying to cross the ball and fluked it in

We were as solid as a bar of Blackpool Rock. Good Times a coming and whisper it quietly but I reckon the way Carlo Ancelotti is going at Everton, don't be surprised if they turn their attention to Vanarama manager if the month 3 times big Dunc

I didn't fancy the trip. When I saw Joyce was the ref, I knew we didn't have a chance. He's one bent b@$7@&d him - he hates Fylde.

I know Dunc likes playing fancy possession stuff on the floor, but he's got to get some more fire in the lads' beĺlies. We would have steamrollered them if we put a fee more tackles in.

Do you remember Terry Terry our rb from 6 seasons ago mate? Well word has it Terry had a fling with Kerry (wife of James Joyce) so basically JJ has had it in for FFC ever since TT had a go at KJ's DD's

Luckily the lads robbed his wheels on his Fiat Panda Turbo after the game to teach the tit a lesson.

Ive been using one of the wheels as a lovely coffee table in me mams new flat.

So Terry was getting merry with Kerry? Was it whilst his wife Geri was back home in Derry?

He was a rum one. And DDs? You've not seen her after her visit to celebrity Fylde Plastic Surgeon Dr Boobs. She can't leave the house without a wheelbarrow.

And I absolutely love the coffee table. You can't buy class like that!

BACK TO LEAGUE ACTION

Bromley result.webp

Fylde swiftly put their cup exit in midweek out of their minds and put Bromley to the sword in a well fought out win. There was a clear handball inside the box and the referee had no option but to point to the spot after consulting with his assistant referee. Henderson casually stepped up and maintained his 100% record from the spot putting it straight down the middle with confidence. Alex Kiyomya who is always a handful crossed to the far post a minute later to find Watling sliding in to take it past Griffiths. Bromley showing Fylde they will not roll over easily. Fylde pressed and fought for every ball but the long ball over the top was not working as O'Neill was coming out second best to the centre back pairing. Ginnelly eventually created magic and ther ball over the top found O'Neill who had shrugged off his marker and knocked it over the keeper and into the net, a sublime goal to make it 2-1. Five minutes into the second half, Bromley came close to equalising when a shot from Kiyomya was closed down in time for the winger to send it wide. Ginnelly got on the scoresheet 15 minutes from time, Mick Wisdom who had only been on the pitch 2 minutes threaded the ball through for the attacking midfielder and he jinxed past the keeper to score into an open net. 3-1 and all point secured.

Gateshead result.webp

It was the annual trip to the North East to play Gateshead and one trip the fans look forward to but on a cold November day it was matched with a poor display from The Coasters and the only goal of the game came from Greg Olley in the dying embers of a game most fans had already started leaving. Midfielder Olley picked up the ball in the centre of the park and hit a shot out of nothing that looped over Griffiths and into the net, one the keeper should have done better with but you could argue the fact that Hammond and Croasdale were completely switched off when the shot came in. Fylde tried to create opportunites through the centre of the park but O'Neill had a poor game and was later substituted for on-loan striker Martin Withers, he also failed to have a late impact and the game closed out with a poor performance and a loss.

DF: Shocking. Not good enough. Poor. Embarrassing. We didn't even look like we wanted to win the game today and we lacked creativity up top. Gutted to concede so late on but we have to play until the final whistle, the lads switched off, it was probably too cold for them and we lost the game.

FYLDE STILL IN CONTENTION

Northampton result.webp

After the disappointing performance at Gateshead, fellow title contenders Northampton Town were on the coast to pile on the misery. Northampton were the better side during a quiet first half with the majority of possession although neither side could carve out any decent chances. Creative winger and top scorer Euan Henderson went off on 13 minutes with an apparent calf injury. As the half-time whistle went a chorus of boos echoed around Mill Farm and would have resonated with the Fylde players. The first goal was disastrous from a Fylde standpoint, Longstaff set up midfielder Parsons who had time to strike the ball neatly into the bottom corner from the edge of the box, Fylde players standing around bemused as to what just happened. With lack of a comeback, Northampton doubled their lead when winger Longstaff got goal side of Lamptey who was ball watching and tapped home the cross. Fylde really in dire straits with an urgent need to turn these recent performances around.

tranmere result.webp

It was a smash and grab win for Fylde on their Tuesday night trip to Prenton Park and it wasn't pretty. A gritty yet battling performance from The Coasters saw them grab a late winner through substitute Mick Wisdom who was on the edge of the 18 yard box when Danny Smith crossed in, Wisdom hit the shot which took a deflection before going into the back of the net. With Fylde putting in solid defensive work for the 90 minutes, the creativity up top was not to be seen raising questions from supporters about Tyrone O'Neill's performance and the rumours of him wanting to leave for a new challenge in League One. Fylde defended brilliantly to see the game out and a win to end some recent poor displays can only be seen as a positive.

DF: We got the job done, it wasn't pleasing on the eye but we came here, dug deep and took the points home. Henderson has been ruled out for 4 weeks and will be a big loss to us, it his calf that's the problem. We got the win and now we look forward to Halifax.

carrera.webp

Fylde manager and Everton icon Duncan Ferguson has came out publicy to back Massimo Carrera in the Everton manager's seat. Everton are currently 13th in the Premier League after 14 games. Carrera won the F.A. Cup in 2023 with Everton and finished 7th in the table last season. Everton have failed to qualify from the Europa League Group stage even though the beat Juventus at home 2-0. Owner Farhad Moshiri is unhappy with the recent run of form and Carrera must turn this slump around.
