Formation

It left a meteor sized hole in the middle of the park which allowed a team of even Stokes very limited ability to come at us and play.

If we try that against a team with some quality we´ll be rolled over.

Coleman Jagielka Distin Baines

Osman Gibson Fellaini (Narrow)

Mirallas Pienaar

Jelavic

I´d like to see the xmas tree formation.

Yeah no way in hell we'll play this at Spurs.

I don't mind us using it as long as we play it properly.

--------------------------------------------------Howard
--------------------------------Heitinga----------Jags----------Distin
----------------Coleman-----------------------Gibson---------------------Baines
---------------------------------Mirallas------------------------Pienaar
--------------------------------------------Fellaini--------------------------
---------------------------------------------Anichebe

Its not that far off what we play now, just gives us more options up the pitch and players have slightly different roles.

So how do you reckon we should line up v Spurs?

------------------------Howard
Coleman-------Jagielka------Distin--------Baines
---------------Osman-----------Gibson
Mirallas---------------Anichebe-----------Oviedo
----------------------Jelavic

Oviedo and Mirallas license to swap sides

Could maybe see Moyes putting Neville/Heitinga in where Osman is and Ossie out where Oviedo is

Or he could surprise us all and play Barkley

It seems to be a 5-3-2 with Mirallas being the 'CAM', with a free role. Alot of people have suggested ith with the fullbacks that we and the 3 decent CB's. It was steady enough but sometimes looked a bit lost going forward. Could have easily been 0-0 today if it wasn't for a superb, and i Mean top class (would be creamed over if it was a top4 team) goal by Mirallas.

3-man CB system actually suits our squad, but without learning it properly (practices + games) it can be only tried against team like Stoke or/and team playing 2 strikers. We can do much better with it, but I would switch Heitinga with Jagielka (usually you should have slowest player in the middle or/and best passer out of group in the middle - Heitinga fits in both cases) and also missing link up player like Pienaar hurt like hell today, without him there was no enough connection betweens lines. Nobody was also able to create space for Baines and Coleman to attack, so Coleman had plenty of 1 vs 1 dribbling opportunities, which is not his strength.

don't like it too much space behind the wingbacks and when we play the sort of football we do when the ball is flying from one end to the other it leaves players out of position. Back 4 for me.

Play that against spurs and bale and Lennon will rape us.
