Foreign Fans

It's good that we are still recognised around the world, without much success, that says a lot about the people who choose to follow us because it certainly isn't because we are succesful currently. All aboard I say as long as your not a bell.

I like that our club has a scouse core and I would never want that to change as it gives us an identity, but I have no problem whatsoever with fans who are born into following us or to choose to follow us from all over the UK or the rest of the world. What I am totally against is the fair-weather element who turn up for a day out, add nothing to the atmosphere and know deep down that it doesn't really matter to them, they're more "football fans" who happen to have chosen a particular team.

We don't have many of them, unlike our neighbours, but as we try to grow the club and the "brand" begins to grow, I hope we don't attract the same sort of day-tripper element that Liverpool and United have got. The die-hard dynamic of our Goodison crowd is what makes us special and I'd be loathe to lose that for the sake of more international Premier League fans who want a day out and just so happen to have chosen Everton as their team because we're flavour of the month.

If you really love Everton, I couldn't care less where you're from, you're welcome here any time you like.

I had a Latvian Everton fan next to me at the WBA game, had a good little chat to him. He didn't start to support us until he came to Liverpool to work. Would of been much easier for him to be a typical RS living in the city and support them via Sky and Match of the Day.

No doubt the Brexiteer divs would of gave him some crap though, rather have him at GP than a local deadhead.

Conversely I have always found Evertonian visitors to the city, whether that be from abroad or other parts of the UK to be really great company. I find tgem incredibly interesting and very respectful of our great club and city. I love hearing their stories of how they come to support our club. Makes me proud to be a blue and a scouser.

As a local I say the more who become Evertonians, wherever they are based the better.

1) It helps Everton as a club.
2) Means less kopites in a World overpopulated by them.

Just asking for clarification mate that's all. I read his post as people who voted to leave the EEC are both racist and Divs. But I appreciate he may well not have meant that as internet comments are very often misconstrued.

Same with your post mate. It could very easily be read as Brexit = Racist. But I don't think you would intentionally make that sort of post either.

You answered your own question/statement. How can one from abroad merely follow Everton on a whim. It's hard work, like. And painful

I have Andy Grays goal in the 84 cup final to blame for ending up a blue but it's a cherished memory and one I'm thankful for every time I see some clown in a rs or utd jersey walking down the street.

On the support your local team stuff, I do. Cork City are my team and I've followed them the length and breath of Ireland and Europe but they will never get the exposure that the PL does. Friday night in the cross is the highlight of the week and then Saturday is all about Everton. It is possible to do both and to do them with passion and respect for the two institutions and what they mean to the people who follow them. I love Liverpool, it's a great city but that city would be nothing without the blues that inhabit it.
