If we want to be a big club then we have to accept that people from all around the world will want to support us

Rather than push against it, we should embrace it

I do harbour worries that Foreign and WOOL fans might start to get a bit of a backlash in the upcoming years, especially if we start winning stuff again

At the end of the day, if you love the club and you put time and money into following them, then it shouldn't matter where you come from. I say this as an out of towner so my view will be skewed somewhat of course, but it's how I feel

As @chicoazul once said to me in person, "If you get Everton, then you get Everton, no matter where you come from" (I'm paraphrasing slightly, but this has always stuck with me)

Excellent point mate! I know loads of 'Evertonians' who only ever want a ticket if we are in a semi or a final. Otherwise, they can never be bothered! Plus, in all fairness, i am a blue because my dad would have drowned me had i declared myself to be anything other! He is an absolute rabid blue, 84 in May and only stopped going to every single away match last season! Yet he is from DunLaoghaire near Dublin originally! I am always impressed by that Rick Wee guy who decided to support us in a land where only famous teams are followed! Ditto with our blues from the States!

What I wouldn't like to see is a scenario that my nephew (a red nose) suffered at the pit a few years ago! He was criticising one of of the Liverpool players when a scandinavian guy, turned around and said why dont you shut up! If you cant support them dont come to the game you scouse c**t! There are parts of the ground there where Scousers are almost seen as outsiders and that is so wrong! I am delighted to say that my nephew volleyed said scandinavian all over the stand and got arrested and cautioned.

If that were Goodison he wouldn't have made it back to Norway

I will just point at this account and say it was created back when we were pushing for Top 10 under the evil reign of Martinez

Proof enough if I dare say so myself

Well yeah, if anyone ever wants to accuse me of being a glory hunter, I'll simply reply with two words, "Walter, Smith"

And if I happen to be holding a microphone at the time I'll make a show of dropping it before striding off

It's always felt a bit strange being an American Everton supporter. With the NBC TV deal, there has been more widespread knowledge about the game, it's clubs and players but it's still largely ignored in the states. Maybe 5-10% of the public have even heard of Everton. Even less have watched them play.

I do at times feel like an outsider on this board, even after 6 years, but it's not really anything that the posters are doing. There's just a different culture. Thank goodness for this place though since I can't discuss this team with any of my friends or colleagues.

Coming from Durham, it's not only like I come from another country, but when I travel through Blackhall, Hartlepool and Easington, it's like I come from another time...

To be denied as a proper dyed in the wool (pun massively intended) Evertonian would be a massive disappointment for me if I knew people perceived me in that way.

I've spent around £2,000 on this club in one way or another in the last three years or so...

I shudder to think how much I've spent following the club over the years, and even that will pale in comparison to people who come from overseas and spend money on flights, accommodation, match tickets, merch etc and do it more than once a season

My birthplace and that of the man in my avatar - he was Dalkey to be exact!!!

Still loads of Irish Toffees being BORN not manufactured - I am noticing more and more youngsters compared with when I was growing up in the dark 70s when RS were everywhere!!!!

Apologies in advance for bringing this topic here today, but I've been wanting to talk about this for while with my fellows on this forum.

Everton FC are like my family. I was born in the Czech Republic and I still live here. Still I grew up watching our games, playing computer football games as only EFC, always went training with my Everton kit in my local football club here. I love hearing, reading and talking about long stories about the history of the club, the battles, the social issues, the culture of Merseyside and Everton position in it, the greats. I try to meet with other our fans here in my country, to watch games together, to take a trip to watch us in England once in a while.

And now I have a felling, that if you love watching the game and love watching Everton, great, but it becomes a problem when you go against that history and think you as an overseas adopted fan have equal entitlement as the families who have been going to the match for the last fifty, even hundred years, equal weight and importance as the kids growing up around Goodison. I always feel bad when I see our fans laughing at LFC fans that they are plastic, Norwegians, etc.

So I wonder, what is your real view on foreign Everton fans? Do you see foreign Evertonians as one of us or do you see them as an other type of Everton fans? Do you see them as a positive or negative for the whole club? Thanks for your opinions.

I love Everton, but never imagine myself to be a local. You don't need to hail from L4 to be an Evertonian, and you don't need to imagine yourself from Liverpool to support the club.

That said, Yanks are the worst.

Just as long as half and half scarves are never ever deemed acceptable at an Everton game
