Foreign Fans

I have met a couple of fans from here personally in real life. It seems that most of us here all want the same thing - success for Everton.
It doesn't matter if your scouse or Scandinavian. We are all one big happy family.

Well, I really support our national football team. I cheer for all Czech football teams playing in European competitions if they are not playing against us. I like watching big games in our league, but without really cheering for any of teams. I just can't support any of them. My heart is at Everton.

And why exactly should I support my local team? They are playing in 5th Czech division, they are better at drinking alcohol than in football, the players are absolute idiots to meet, the club is owned by a convicted fraud and the league is insanely full of corruption. I have absolutely no time for that.

Oh and thank you guys. So many positive and nice posts in this thread. Keep them coming, amazing reading, Everton that!

This. + football in the east is slowly dying. Mentality-wise, most of our players are clowns, shipped off to Arabia where every second team has Ittihad in its name and there's money aplenty.

Nothing here to root for except the national team, which is also slowly turning into a shadow of its former self.

The key is to the get the balance right and ensure that the local, core support is respected by fans elsewhere and cherished by the club.

Scousers are Everton. Everton primarily represents and is also for our local community.

If you're from elsewhere then that is OK, so long as the traditions of the club are respected and there is an awareness that you are contributing to something that is very much of the city of Liverpool. You are welcome.

We also need to make sure we never have a low season ticket cap like Liverpool do in order to have significant numbers of day trippers and tourists in the ground. Balance is key.

Otherwise the club just becomes a soulless entity with no point.

I had a Latvian Everton fan next to me at the WBA game, had a good little chat to him. He didn't start to support us until he came to Liverpool to work. Would of been much easier for him to be a typical RS living in the city and support them via Sky and Match of the Day.

No doubt the Brexiteer divs would of gave him some crap though, rather have him at GP than a local deadhead.

Believe me, I'm aware of the traditions of this club. Those traditions are one of the reasons I love this club so much. Also yes, Everton is a scouse/Merseyside club. Not a single Everton fan from outside Merseyside should ever look to challenge that.

Talking about the city, I absolutely adore the city of Liverpool. Honestly mate, every time I visit it feels like a home away from home. So yes, it's fair to say that I totally get the club, the city and its people. Convinced that goes for 99% of the foreign fan base.

I started supporting Everton around 1984-1985, so it is safe to say I was something like a glory hunter. For the first like 10 years it was my dream to watch Everton game live on the TV which was not possible due to the kopite sc.m depriving us of the opportunity to play in Europe and the English league was not broadcasted here. Now I watch every game and every time I thank God for this opportunity. However, I haven't been at Goodison yet, so it is something I must change.
Supporting Everton abroad is not that strange. English football is very popular around the world, the same here in Bulgaria. You can meet people supporting all kinds of clubs. For instance, I know people that support Norwich and QPR. But the strangest thing is that the RS supporting fans here are equally as deluded as they obviously are in Britain.

I was born in Liverpool but moved to Norfolk when I was about 4 so have a very southern accent. I've always been a massive fan and gone to about 10 games a season with my dad. With him getting older lately I've gone on my own or with my Mrs for the first time and it amazed me how I exposed I felt without my Scouse dad there. Definitely get a few comments here and there for being an out of towner, so I can't imagine what it's like for foreigners.

Sometimes I wonder whether I'll bring up my kids as Everton fans. I can't imagine them being anything else because I love the club like mad, but it's funny that sometimes I don't feel welcome among evertonians, and they'll be even further removed from the city than I am.
