....ha, ha, the similarity stops with the height.

Because of lockdown, I met @alan ball in a pub car park off the M62 in Rainhill. Knew it was him right away, Everton shirt and ‘nil satis...‘ tattooed down each forearm. Within 20mins he took his shirt off to reveal the gallery of Goodison greats tattooed on his back. Alan Ball, Alex Young, Andy King, Tim Cahill and loads more.

Crazy Evertonian.

Think maybe one of you misunderstood the situation?

Really interested to see what Gerald sunstar says. Didn't know.he was still with us. He was the voice of football got the north west in the 70s and 80s. Quite liked his commentarys. Always calm you never had a clue who he supported. Always had a feeling.he had a soft spot for us tbh. Unlike the ones today like Tyler who jump.up.and down when the RS score

....I won’t give away @alan ball latest compilation, but he’s been talking to some football people, Martin Tyler included. He had a voicemail from Arsenal’s Bob Wilson and most poignantly off Trevor Cherry who recently passed away.

Wow this phone predictive text does me in. Should have read gerald sinstad

Was looking at that money can't buy us love. It it a good read

Yes it's terrific. I was just a lad in the 60s but it brought back things I had forgotten, such as EFC being regarded as a dirty team who had bought success. Fascinating to read the comments to the press by The Catt and John Moores - they were so open, with no spin or guarded comments like nowadays.
Enjoyed the section on the aftermath of winning the title 69/70 and reasons for the failure to progress from there. I am afraid it still didn't mend my broken heart over the sale of Alan Ball though!

Looking forward to it. And ordered the first one off amazon. Had a few! words ha on the phone with bally. Some good prospects coming up as well on commentators. And hes working on a goodison farewell book. Asked to be kept on his list for when they come out. Hes got a few books left due to the coronavirus lockdown so it would be great for blues on here to contact him to buy one. Would make a great xmas present too

Think I'll save them for the next time I go.on holiday sitting on the sunbed. Like reading autobiographies and of course stuff about Everton Ran out of books on holiday in Jan so we're people leave the books I took one of them. It was the Roy Hudd autobiography one of the greatest books in the world for getting you asleep.on a sunbed. Highly recommended!
Loved Roy Hudd, great comic and very good actor. He was brilliant on the radio as well, talking about show business personalities of the past. I was very sad when he passed away not long ago.

Yes vasted under rated. Was a walking encyclopedia on music hall. Never had a go at anyone and seemed very well respected by others. He was ken Dodds biggest fan

I will add that the books are terrific.
vo1 and vol 2 the best interviews by Steve imo are players who only got a few games for instance the interview to Gerry Glover had me laughing my head off - it was sad the way he got treated but the difference in today , and then - soft now very hard, and ruthless by the Catt - he ruled by fear......not ideal, but John Moores put the pressure on the Catt to win things ....
I digress two great books;)

There are Evertonians and there are amazingly dedicated Evertonians like Steve Zocek. For those that are not familiar with the name, he’s very well known on this site as @alan ball.

Steve has spent years capturing, cataloguing and publishing accounts of Everton players. His works are a must read for any Evertonian and a brilliant reference library for the records of Everton Football Club. It’s incredible to find the story of little known Harry Bennett as fascinating as that of Paul Bracewell in the next chapter.

In recent weeks I’ve had pleasure of meeting Steve to pass on some detail of an old teammate of mine who went on to sign for the Toffees. His mobile contact list is a who’s who of Everton history. For his latest endeavour he told me that in the last week he visited now 90 year old ex-ITV commentator Gerald Sinstad to ask for his memories of Goodison Park.

Anyway, Steve’s work is chronicled in two editions of ‘For the Boys in the Royal Blue Jersey’. I know he normally sells copies from St Luke’s Church on match days, but Lockdown has had an impact. Monies go to the Former Players Association and I’m sure @alan ball can advise on how to obtain these fantastic books.
You've seen the artwork on his back?

Superb Evertonian Steve is. Always happy to help fellow supporters out.
