I am still playing the 2011 version!

I am now in the year 2087 and awesome if I say so myself. :celebrate:

Pre-season would always take me around 4 hours continuous to get through. So I do it over 2 or 3 days obviously.

there are classic modes on the pc version and also the fm handheld versions for phones/tablets/psvitas/psps etc... that are all refined and more your old school get through a season in an hour or two.

But they suck.

I tried them, and it feels like a stripped down version of a game, rather than a full game in its' own right. What's the point of it if you can go back and play CM02/03 or whatever with a custom database and have a superior game anyway.

That's actually FM's problem - trying to appeal to everybody, and ultimately appealing to nobody.

Is Cm 02/03 the one were Arteta was an absolute beast and you put him in midfield with Dyer and Jenas and own everyone or was that 03/04?

it does still appeal to quite a few as this thread shows. And the beauty as you say is that old versions can be tweaked if people enjoy them. I loved cm 03-04 but to be honest I like playing a new game each year and like the nuances that each year brings.

Just comparing the two - cm03-04 and the newest fm, the 2d pitch is so much more different, less jittery and player movement more realistic... Everyone has their ideal aspects and favourite fm's and for the creators to merge them all together and keep everyone happy would be virtually impossible.

Have been getting every second one that comes. Hate buying new ones every year. Especially with how long the game takes. Therefore would normally be due to buy this years one. Unless it's drastically different and better I don't think I will this time. Think I will stick to FM14 for awhile then.

That's exactly my point - they shouldn't be doing that. They shouldn't be even trying, yet they are.

They had a winning formula about five years ago but they carried on adding fluff instead of improving existing features, so now it just has a load of fluff. Training is still a ballache, press conferences are still awful, the 3D engine actually got worse last year somehow and so on.

They could have streamlined it down and kept it deep at the same time by just evolving the product every year instead of building on top of it to the point where it's a jumbled mess now. Even the title screen is bloody confusing!

Proper boss nostalgia trip there with the screenshots, gonna start a new save on CM3 after the match tonight!

I had FM15 but it annoyed me that it was so slow to get through. I don't mind the thoroughness of it but it would take ages to progress to the next day etc. I've got a decent laptop so not sure what the problem was.

00-01 or 03-04 were the best for me, 03-04, Cerci, Jake Buxton, Aaron Lennon, Arteta, Jenas, Rungratsamee and Montero were boss on 03-04

Hope FM 16 is better than 15, 15 was enjoyable but nowhere near as much as previous titles, 10 and 11 were fantastic as was 2007

Supat, the man, the myth, the legend.

Jan Kristiansen was a staple from the Scandinavian leagues for really cheap, and Morten Gamst Pedersen was also good at Tromso.

FM2015 was disgusting. Massive steps backwards all over the place. Hope this one gets it back on track.

agree. game had too much emphasis on stuff that wasnt matches or buying players. felt more like a boring realityshow. i dont want to spend 80% of the time answering lots of journos, talking with players when they are unhappy, reading lots and lots of news regarding other teams than the one i am managing. Just make the whole thing a lot more simple! but with the match-view and many of the new stuff regarding tactics ofcourse.
