I'm Welsh and wasn't bothered either way. I cheered England's goal and it would have been nice for my kids who were born in England to see them lift a trophy.

You may say the problem is caused by the Welsh, however I do remember a lot of us supporting England in 86. The constant lauding it over the other nations has put in a division where that can no longer happen en masse. Much like how went from the friendly to the unfriendly Merseyside derby.

…I fully understand it and as we both say it’s a bit similar to the media fascination with RS.

I was in a bar for the final, genuinely suspected England might find a way to win.

When Spain scored and the bar cheered I found myself willing England, especially Foden, on.

Had I watched at home I wouldn't have supported either side, but would have had much less righteous indignation.
