Fernandes...

OK fair enough, he's still gash.

Well you know that to be untrue too.

I see it like this. There are three types of players.

1. Average/Hardworking (like Kilbane, Davies)
2. Good/Hardworking (like Carsley)
3. Gifted (like Ronaldo)

Now many that fall into the 3rd category don't always track back, you don't always see them running around, but they are an influence. Yakubu for example, people have moaned that he doesn't run enough. Although that is improving under Moyes (note - Moyes gets players running) he has always been there to score the goals.

Fernandes is the kind of player who can dominate midfields, or not - but he will always be looking for that killer pass.

People say that Ronaldinho is the best player in the world, well if anyone has seen his performances in the last year would say that's not true. Cristiano Ronaldo is seen as the best player in the Premiership and some the world, yet he fails to shine against the big clubs.

Point is ability, gifted ability is not something you can develop. Graft and teamwork is something that Moyes can extract from a player, and some would say its that of which Moyes has extracted from a squad that are now playing for eachother.

Another point is this - how many midfielders have danced around Fabregas this season or last? If there is that ability available, and add into that Moyes work ethic instruction, then Fernandes has the potential to be great for this squad.

Well that's your opinion. I agree he has talent. But like I said earlier, a few tricks and flicks don't convince me that he's worth £8m or whatever it is. If it's a loan deal as suggested then fine, we can have another look at him then judge at the end of the season.

But as the likes of me, chico and Sharpy have been saying in this thread, he goes missing far too often. Pienaar is a much better player imo and I think there are better options out there than Fernandes. IF we sign him then of course I'll give him my full support and hope he succeeds. But tbh, I don't want us to sign him.

This guy is a loaner!! all he thinks about is himself. we have a great team with skill, guile, graft, determination and we work are socks off fore each other. were does this maverik fit in? Why is it he has never settled anywhere? He's just a gloryfied graveson. 10 great mins an then nothing for three games.

I still so no.

Well I really don't think we are in a position to judge either way of his ability. He wasn't with us for very long. But Moyes saw in him something he wanted, were not going to start conflicting with Moyes' opinion.

But you guys don't want him because your convinced he did the dirty. Where we don't know that.

You say he goes missing during games. Well many so called stars do. Its up to the manager to improve their work ethic - which we all know Moyes does.

One of the greatest goalscorers in recent times goes missing from games, but he always pops up with a goal. (Michael Owen)

And I also though Cahill when he first arrived was a one trick pony, he just turn up at the vital moment to score the header, but other than that he wasn't anything else. Now of course he is a more rounded player and vital to our cause.

The same can also be said for Osman, he definitely goes missing through games.

But Fernandes only played 9 times for us and he scored 2 goals. Compare that to his Benfica record 67 games 3 goals. Seems to me like he improved under Moyes - even if it was only his goal rate. Also he's only 21 and does have potential.

Well lads I have to say, from all the noises I am hearing there are only a handful who wouldn't welcome him back with open arms.

At the end of the day we need ability if we are to challenge for the top 4. Not going to do it by running around like idiots all day.

I'd like us to sign him.

not convinced we want to or can sign him (look how difficult it proved last time). every nanosecond a transfer drags through will involve his shitbag agent phoning every club in christendom saying we've got this player...etc.

Hopefully manny has learnt not to go where the quick money is, but he proved last time he didn't have the hair on his balls to stand up to his agent and his agents desire for a juicier 15%.

We'll see. Is the player we need and as far as work rate and disappearing in games goes - moyes' can change that. He couldn't coach simon davies to have the control, touch, vision or eye for goal even of fernandes (remember that cracker against united), cos you can't really coach that kind of skill at a later age.

Pissed off at him, but would be forgiven if he signed for us.

Did he play in the champions league? I think he may have so that would be him cuptied for the UEFA Cup possibly.

As far as the incident in the nightclub goes, two black guys get arrested by Spanish Police, - assaulting a police officer would normally involve them attacking the spanish polices fists, with their faces.

Still prefer Arshavin, though.

I think it's telling that (if these stories are correct) we are taking him on loan essentially as midfield cover rather than buying him as we previously wanted to. In that case, I don't really have that much against him but equally I am not breaking open the champagne because he may be returning. Could be a Pienaar, could equally be a Gravesen 2.0.
