Name them then please...

I'm not doubting what you say I just can't think off the top of my head.

Gary Medel, Sevilla to Cardiff for £11m - 26 years old, over 60 senior caps for Chile
Etienne Capoue, Toulouse to Spurs for £9m - 25 year sold, 7 senior caps with France
Emanuele Giaccherini, Juventus to Sunderland for £6.5m - 28 years old, 14 senior caps for Italy
Tom Huddlestone, Spurs to Hull for £5m - 26 years old, CBA to check his england caps
Leroy Fer, Twente to Norwich for approx £4.5m - 23 years old, 2 senior caps for Holland

Time will tell if any of them have better Prem careers than McCarthy, but presumably these are some of the transfers you were thinking of. Perhaps Taraabt and Granero being loaned out by QPR might also fit this category?

FWIW I think Capoue looks a decent buy, from what little I've seen of him so far.

WHY ARE UTD CHASING FELLAINI THEN LADS

WHY DONT THEY CHASE MCARTHY IF HE IS THAT GOOD.

WORK THAT OUT THEN YOU NUMB SKULLS.

Spot on McCarthy is a workhorse with no skill and if he was that good UNT would have taken him by now or is he over priced? he certainly is not worth 8 million imo if we could afford him without selling Felli he would be good cover for Gibson , and Osman! He may have time to develop but we are skint!

Thanks.... the point I was trying to make is that some on here want a player as good as Fellaini for around the 10 million mark... it ain't gonna happen. Out of your list above I hold my hands up and say any comment on their ability would be purely speculation on my behalf.... except for probably Huddlestone... who in my opinion SHOULD have been a very goo player... but it never happened for some reason

Not so, I don't want us to buy McCarthy as a replacement for Fellaini, as I've made a judgement on their respective ability levels with my own eyes mate.

I think the lad is a tidy player, but far from outstanding & certainly not worth the kind of fees being talked about. As a squad player at a sensible fee I'd not object, but as a replacement for a player of the ability of Fellaini? Not a chance, we'd be vastly weaker in that scenario.

This on toast.

Also a lot of hate for Felli lately, why i don't know??

I've never seen this forum hate on a non-Everton player so much purely for being linked with us

Its just poor timing. The combination of Martinez's 'global market' comments and the fact we signed 3 wigan players with one that was actually pretty expensive for our standards, isn't going to make easy for any Wigan player or Martinez to escape skepticism. I doubt we will care this much if a year from now we're still rumoured to be in for him.

Tbh at the beginning of the summer I would've happily taken McCarthy over Alcaraz/Kone or Robles.

Lets be honest Fellaini is a much better then McCarthy, however for those slating the lad. McCarthy never gave Fellaini a kick on three occasions last season
