What are the first impressions of our new record signing?

By all accounts he has been hot and cold so far. The derby will be a real test of his ability to control the midfield. Have we seen enough of him so far to justify the fee? Is he a slow burner who will come good after a few more games and after he has picked up a bit more of the language?

Too early, but if you're twisting my arm on first impressions (and I'm struggling for positives here) I'd say he's one of those players who likes the 'free role' to do whatever he feels. Put him in a five man midfield as Gravesen had and he might have some impact. At the moment he looks a total waste of money.

I think so. Gotta remember he is 20 years old and not a certain Mr Moutinho.

I'd say we need to give him at least a season before we truly judge him.

I think we overpaid for him no matter what but we have to be patient with him.

Decent first two games, poor third. Three games isn't enough to judge to be honest, I'd like to see him in a few home games.

He's not worth 15 million, I've said time and time again that we paid over the odds because we had too. The situation in the summer was [Poor language removed] up, Moyes had to get someone in.

He has potential though, I've seen enoug in the two games I've seen him to know that. We'll see how he gets on, hopefully he improves the more he plays.

Agreed he does look lost at the moment..time to judge him will be in 6 months time

But sadly we need him to start turning it on now:huh:

Not the best of starts

i have a little faith though
needs to show us something soon
i have a feeling he may be benched for the derby

You have to be realistic though to be honest. These players are basically playing there pre-season at this club because they've come in so late, there adjusting to the team, tactics and the roles they are playing. Naturally it's going to take time.

They've also come into a side that is struggling and certain estabilished members of the team are low on confidence and making silly mistakes. I don't think it's easy to come into a team when confidence is low, it's not actually.

I have no doubts that both Fellaini and Castillo have talent and could be useful members of this squad. Fellaini is a kid though basically, two years into his proffessional career, he's not going to be the finished article and it may take him a year or two until we see him at his best. He's been bought for now and the future, hopefully once he develops he will prove to be a 15 million pound player.

As I didn't judge Yakubu after his first several matches while settling in with us, I will refrain from judging Fellaini as well.

What most people have said.

Had an interesting conversation with a Belgian fan recently (definitely not a Liege supporter) who reckoned he would be immense for us and that he was a steal even at that price.

sure thing. i wasn't really asking about the price as it will take a couple of years for a player to justify a 10+ million price tag.

i was really just looking for the first impression... do we like the look of him so far. i agree with earler postings that so far it has been like his pre season. it would be great if he felt settled enough to boss the midfield on saturday~!
