Interesting that you think Yak suits us better than Saha Neiler, I said in another thread a few days ago that I prefer Yak to Saha and didn't think anyone would agree. Saha is probably better technically, but Yak's brain is next level. Usually with the intelligent players I can guess what they are trying to do, because they play a certain way and make the most efficient passes possible. Yak is different, he does stuff that makes me think 'what the ****' but then it nearly comes off and you understand what he was trying to do. I find him so entertaining to watch, that moment when he did a nice little turn and then messed his legs up and ran it out of play without even touching it and then just GRINS. Great guy.

Im 100% on the same page as you mate, as much as i think Saha is a great player, i would have the Yak everytime - two very different players, he just offers us more and like you say some of his all round play is a joy to behold. We were a better team today because Yak was in for me.

Am i the only one who thinks it kind of funny that people get annoyed by the Yak because hes not Andy Johnson.

Abosolutley superb performence by the Yak today! When he is scoring goals hes super cool when he is not hes a lazy git. I dont get the lazy thing, hes gets battered by six foot centre halfs every game and still manages to hold up the ball, he pulls defences apart with power and positionining (see Artetas first goal) where he ended up out on the flank leaving their defence wondering wheather to stick or swival leaving Arteta in acres.

He doesnt look sharp from a goal scoring point of view, but that may be due to a lack of games, you would have to say a sharp Yak would have had a hatrick today.

His build up play is possibly just behind Rooney and Drogba as the best in the league but more applcable to our system then the other two - i dont think its a coincidence that all our goalscoreres today were midfeilders.

The Yak thing is strange, being on form for me the Yak is the third best striker in the country. His quality as a footballer, power, linked with vison and intellegnce makes him an exteamely special player - by far one of our most gifted. If Saha had played today and not scored no one would have bated an eyelid.

To be honest i would have the Yak over Saha in the team any day - dont get me wrong Saha is a crack striker and complaetley deserved to keep the shirt for most of the season, but Yak offers us more, is a more well rounded player and is more suited to our system.

How exactly is it surprising that all our goals were scored from midfield? We often score from midfield. Are you saying that if Saha had been playing, Howard would have scored all our goals instead?

The only big advantage for Saha over Yakubu is heading ability of French striker, in games against better teams, when we are not allowed to play as fluid passing game as today and we are hoofing more, it's something which really helps us.

Totally different position.
You have to be much fitter the further upfield you go than you do as a Central Defender. The mileage covered in comparisson between the 2 positions is huge.

I don't think jags injury was worst. His was a common sports injury that is treated well.

Yaks injury couldve ended his career.

The Yak is a variable he ffers us a great foundation between bringing the midfeild into offensive positions and getting our creative players on the ball in the buissness third of the feild. Another variable i think today was the blend in midfeild we lookes untoucable with a midfeild of the Heit, Arteta, Rodwell and Donovan in the second half, i would start with this against Brum - that would be a massive test given they are the biggest spoilers in the league. Getting players in between their back four and midfeild four will be vital.

Knee injuries retire more athletes than any other kind of injury per capita. That Steadman cat hasn't been prowling the scene that long and yet has achieved a level of celebrity I suspect his surgery training left him unable to deal with.
As for positions, I agree a striker should be doing more running than a CB. But that agreement is part of the issue isn't it?
