Favorite moments of the moyes era?

For bringing a sense of belonging to the top half of the Prem - something we've only managed sporadically since Catterick (yeah, 3 seasons under Kendall and a little bit beyond but, let's be honest, 1971-2002 apart from 3 great years has been mostly a big struggle). We've not had this since Catterick so, even if it's not titles or cups it's still great to hold your heads up and stand toe to toe against the best.

We could beat anyone on our day - the style wasn't always great, the away performances not always pretty but we still got the job done. Not too many awful days home or away - for half a season (05-06) and the back end of 03-04 we were awful but that's not a lot in 11 years.

For all the great buys - Cahill, Arteta, Coleman, Baines, Jags, Fellaini etc etc - by far outweighing the disasters.

For turning players like Osman into internationals - getting the best of almost everyone who ever played for us.

For the way we took City on, and, as often or not, Chelsea and Spurs

For more highs that lows. For having bucket loads of dignity when all around him in football there is virtually none.

Excellent post mate. He made us a top 6 club again which those of us who experienced the 70s never mind most of the 90s can fully appreciate. If his successor manages to do this under similar financial constraints I will be truly amazed.

Personal highlight was qualifying for the CL in 04/05. That was the time to kick on with investment and when we didn't it was the moment when I truly lost faith in Kenwright and the board.

THIS ALL DAY FOR ME.

Making Reina look like a real goose was the best.

Not convinced I would write the 70s off as a struggle, tbh you could argue we should have won the title 3 times from 71-79, and we were always a bigger club than others who won titles during that period (Leeds, Derby, Forest)

For me the 'rot' set in only with the Sky era. And frankly Moyes has only maintained our second tier status. Has he ever done any better than in Royle's second season for us? For me, no.

And as for him having dignity, the developments of the last few days smack of someone with none - his actions have been entirely selfish stringing us along, and had the club known how he was going to behave they should have sacked him mid season
