Regardless of the quality of the underlying business, who wants to buy 30% of an illiquid stock (in trading terms) that offers no board position or influence with the dominant majority shareholder whilst releasing the seller to create a major competitor elsewhere?

Surely as an investment it's sellable. 30% of a company that is increasing in value every year.

Some people want to go swimming with dolphins before they die, others want to own a football club. If that's what the Russian wants to do he will do it. Sometimes logic doesn't come into it. You can't spend money when you are dead. He ain't getting any younger. I would've surprised at all if he decided Yeah what the hell Everton it is

(i) it's illiquid, can't be sold easily, and (ii) it's only going to increase in value if Arsenal's revenues increase due to success on the pitch - Kroenke seems a steady as we go, ambition only to qualify for CL type of guy - that's going to be increasingly difficult with greater competition whilst Arsenal relatively stand still.

I found the following article on Bloomberg, an interview with both Usmanov and Moshiri.

It's an interesting article, Usmanov makes one comment “I love Arsenal, that’s why I’m a shareholder,” however Moshiri talks more about the wanting to invest to "secure future success on the playing field". The journo even state it's one investment they would never sell.

The article is more about Moshiri but looking at it, they have been partners in most business deals, but the main point is most. Usmanov IMO will be happy to sit and make money on the arsenal investment. His holding has been estimated at £400m off the top of my head I would say his return is probably more than 33%, not bad in football without having to invest further or do much in the 9 years of being shareholders.

i think Moshiri has got this covered by himself that would have been part of his plan but he will also be looking at his eventual exit and de-risking his investment along the way, so it's not surprising if he has partners to link up with especially for the stadium development. But I can't see it being Usmanov, his interest is arsenal. But their mutual friends may well be!

We've increased in value this year and we've had no success?
