Kroenke played a good game in making sure he got control of Arsenal before Usmanov, once Dein had sided with R&W then Kroenke and the board united to make sure Usmanov (and de facto, Dein) would not have influence or control. Usmanov had to keep hold of Dein as Chairman of R&W in order to acquire his shares - in retrospect that was probably a mistake. Equally his inability to persuade Bracewell-Smith to sell to him proved costly.

Skoch is the third partner (second biggest) in USM not R&W, and given he's never expressed interest in R&W, and that R&W sits outside the USM holding company structure, it's not immediately obvious that he would become involved. Having said that perhaps Moshiri can use his persuasive skills on him...
 

I was just reading somewhere the other day about how China want to become a world football power in the next 20 years. This was the reasoning behind why they have bought into Man City and Atletico. I believe these were purchases backed by the state. So possibly this would be the way out for Usmanov as the Chinese are not interested in running clubs but want to learn more of the inner workings of the biggest clubs in Europe by owning parts of them. Not saying this would happen but possibly one of the only ways out that Usmanov has if he actually does want to sell his block.

That is a potential solution, just sell R&W to a Chinese group, the problem though is that they would still have no influence nor would they learn much about running a club unless there was a significant change of attitude by Kroenke.

What if someone does not want influence. The value of arsenal is only going one way, therefore from a financial perspective it make perfect sense for someone to buy them who has no interest in the footballing side of owning shares in a club.

Personally I don't think that there is any chance of Usmanov coming to Everton. He bought Moshiri's shares as there is no financial reason not to and to do his friend a favour. Moshiri has reached the age where he probably wants to leave a legacy in football and so went off on his own.

Yeah that's fair, if he wasn't interested in being involved in the CL revenue of Arsenal would he really be interested in a riskier project like Everton? Probably not.

Dein getting on board (as it were) here would be utterly massive for the outward perception of this club as a business - as in, exclusive from out football reputation. Would be brilliant to see that happen. You can't help but feel this club is being hauled rapidly into the modern era.

Is there a scenario where USM Holding as a whole, and not specifically Moshiri himself with his 10% stake in it, would finance the building of a new Everton stadium without Usmanov buying a share in the club i.e. the new stadium isn't dependent upon Usmanov selling the R&W stake in Arsenal? How would this mechanism work, Usmanov owns the new ground outright through one of his companies, and Everton pay an annual fee to be tenants?

Thanks for all your posts on this mate, they make perfect sense and prob good to keep everyones expectations in check.

I was thinking though, couldnt Usimov say im selling my stake to say the chinese and of to compete directly with Arsenal unless i get a seat on the board? Though i recognise any buying group is also locked.

Seems like a bit of leverage.

No comment has be stated either way but they surely the club would've stated if the debt's were cleared so I think it's fair to presume they're still there but in modern football our debts really aren't that bad especially with the amount of money coming into clubs.
 
My biggest question is on the scale of the plans that Moshiri seems (by all accounts) to have for us.

I just don't feel like at £1.7bn he has the financial resources to see such ambitious plans through to completion on his own (if this rumoured 100m transfer budget is true, plus the £25m it's cost to remove Martinez and install Koeman, we're talking about over 7% of his net worth already!) - to me it does seem to imply that he believes someone will be joining him who will have the ability to throw very serious amounts of money around without massively impacting their overall net worth. Doesn't have to be Usmanov of course.
