Family Trees

Ours got done recently for some tattooing project.

Our coat of arms is quite snazzy.

My family got traced all the way back to Cornwall in the 11th century. Doomsday book and all that. It was really interesting, anyone that says otherwise clearly has no soul.

My family mottos are the remarkably unimaginative "Vive ut vivas" and "Nil desperandum".

And the coat of arms has a dog on it. Well cool. And blue obviously.

If any of you have family that come from Co Down Northern Ireland.Newry and Mourne area check this site out (oldwarrenpointforum)

Anyone doing theirs?

It's pretty addictive. I feel like a right sleuth, finding out stuff about my ancestors.

i was talking with my ma the other day and we fancy putting one together.

got any tips mate?????????

I thought about these websites like ancestry etc but they seem like a bit of a con. might not be though.

Did mine, my first wife's and my second wife. Got most of it back to 1600s but in some areas back to mid 1400s and in a couple of areas back to 1200s.

If anyone is interested these sites are free.

Lancashire OnLine Parish Clerk Project -
FamilySearch.org - Family History and Genealogy Records (Go advanced earch and select IGI for your search)
UKBMD - Births, Marriages, Deaths Indexes & Census Transcriptions Online for UK Family History and Genealogy (where you will find Freebmd and Freecen and Freereg.

Be aware that the some of the sites are not yet completely transcribed but are work in progress.

If you start going into Ancestry.co,uk it will be expensive as also will be getting birth, marriage and death certificates from GRO which cost £7.50 per certificate.

www.genesreunited.co.uk is a good free sopurce put your name in that you are searching and get matches with other members. They could be your cousins and may share their tree with you whicj would be a big help if you find you have common ancestors.

If anuone should need advice please PM me.
