What a signing!
Really astute/clever.
Age not an issue, in his prime.

If Gomes can improve on his defence, get quicker and harder in the tackles
Delph- Gana- Gomes could be special.
(the unholy trinity fading nicely from the memory)

Delph orchestrating the pace, drive and skill of Digne, finding Sig in space....
well...just can't wait for the season to get started.

COYB!

Not sure how Gylfi would fit in with those three though.

Gyfli for me is Silva's biggest conundrum.
I think with Delph now in and the players Silva's got you can build a side round/with Gylfi in it.
With the aim to find the moments to get Gylfi into space - the moments that win matches.

This doesn't mean its all about Sig. So much else can be played, but it fits nicely, interchanges well, in the overall pattern of play.

If its viewed more laterally, you've got Digne, Delph, Bernard and Sig down the left
and Gomes, Richarlison and Coleman down the right.
There is def strength there, in moving up the wings.
And we're now got the players/balance to use and exploit the space created by the wing build up.
To manipulate the game to create the space for Gylfi and Richarlison to revel in.

Ok so there is no traditional CF role - with Sig and Bernard interchangable as left and centre forwards and Richarlison on the right.

This is only my opinion, I'm sure others will hate it.
The main weakness is the lack of targets from crosses.
But with Digne the main supplier and Sig centre, Richarlison back post, and Gomes making the run, it can work.
Weaker more so from Coleman's side.
But with the type of semi-counter attacking football Silva seems to want to play the crossing shouldn't be a priority.

This weakness is the cost paid so we can open up a lot more options to play better football.

Just as important is we've got a solid defensive midfield set up
When we lose the ball, not only are we set up to defend the middle better but also much better options when we win it back.
Delph is key to this type of play.
When Gana wins the ball back he should have at least Delph or Gomes as an option, and from there we have two players who should be able to get things going, with quality and intelligence.

If the side is not built with Gylfi in it, then I'd question whether Bernard suits as well.
In which case Richarlison to the left, bring in a top striker and RW and be done with it.

But would much rather see the above given a go for at least a season.
(Apart from hating to see Gylfi and Bernard rendered ineffective)

Total football meets counter attack, anyone?

“I like playing with a number 10” somehow gets constantly interpreted as “sounds like there’s no place for Sig and we’re going 4-3-3”
The idea that he can’t play deeper is also annoying. He can. No question. But he also scores a lot of goals playing more as a 10.
