Kimi started to do the same thing to Vettel when he got his marching orders from Ferrari, what's surprising is how early he has been told. Cost Hamilton a good 2 seconds. Bit naughty Bottas.

It's not really surprising, he's absolute crap. Was inevitable so may as well clear the air.

After that though it I were Wolff I'd sack him and put Russell in immediately.

Brilliant strategy from Mercedes and what a drive from Lewis.
What makes him so good is with whatever they throw at him, either in term of strategy or issues with the car, he simply knuckles down and deals with it.

The strategy was good today, however you only need to look at the number of pit stops and comparable drives (Max or Bottas) and how he smashes it.

Don’t rate Bottas but at least he’s nearly always there in third to help with strategy.

Perez has been nowhere to be seen in a few races so far. Verstappen badly needs some back up.

He behaved poorly today though. Never in the race for first and held up Hamilton and forced him to make a move he shouldn’t have had to. Luckily it didn’t make a difference in the end

The curse of the No. 2 at Red Ball seems to be holding more merit; that, or they simply do push the majority of resources towards one driver.

Relentless.

Well for a Spanish GP where the first 4 finished in grid position... that was a flipping great race!!

Have to give Max a massive amount of credit. Pulled off a great pass into turn 1 which in turn set up the race long battle with Hamilton. Without that Hamilton easily drives off into the distance and it's another procession. It seems the Red Bull can warm up its tyres faster at the start of the race, but the Mercedes can make the tyres last longer. He'll be disappointed that he couldn't hang on for the win, but he still drove an immaculate race with what he had under him.

Hamilton just drove awesome. If you remember back in the earlier part of his career, he wasn't always the kindest on his tyres over a race, and it shows how he has improved that he can now pull off these sort of tyre strategies. Another masterclass.

Bottas.. driving like someone who knows he's not going to be in that team next year.

Leclerc great drive, and best race for Ricciardo so far for his new team.

WDC odds
Hamilton now 1/3, Verstappen 3/1

Hamilton is rightly clear fav now but I there is a long way to go in this championship and I think Verstappen is a good punt at that price.

Merc knew that if at the first stop they undercut max or pitted after a slow red bull pit stop, Red Bull would of done to Merc, what they did to RB.

I mean that was planned aswell. Track position was there for the taking but they played the long game.

So before this season, they just rely on brute performance, and now they are adding this type of strategy and games because they are being forced into it. Utterly fantastic team, surely going down as one of the best in history.

I don't think Red Bull could have done what Merc did because Bottas was in the way. Perez being lacklustre and way off the pace gave Merc the luxury of using the strategy. Verstappen was moaning on Dutch TV about it after the race.

So long as Red Bulls number 2 drivers continue to struggle this badly they are always going to be at a strategic disadvantage relative to Merc who at least have a second driver who can stay close enough to the leaders to influence strategy in Mercs favour.
