Hasn't the transfer window only been open for 4 days?...

Actually that isn't true, in fact I though that was the case as well but last week I was told by another Evertonian on another message board that was not the case, here is what he told me:-

http://www.premierleague.com/staticFiles/7a/20/0,,12306~139386,00.pdf

Page. 150 Section M Point 2....
2. The first Transfer Window in any year shall commence at midnight on the last day of the Season and shall end on 31st August next if a Working Day or, if not, on the firstWorking Day thereafter, at a time to be determined by the Board.

The only player couldn't officially become an Everton player until 1st of July are the Bosman or free transfer signing.

Point was devils - fans are bemoaning how late signings will be, raising valid concerns about players needing time to adapt. A player can not actually join up with a new club until the 1st July - only a few days ago. The registration of the player cannot be confirmed until the 1st July. Agreements can obviously be made before - but they're not actually official and so, the player can not join with the new club.

The deadline, for me, will be when Moyes takes them to the US.

Never really expected much this summer with the current financial climate etc. so don't really get overly emotional over it.

Philip Carter, the *most successful* Everton Chairman and Lifetime Mr Whippy Head.

Can he just shut the fcuk up?

There are 2 ways of looking at this poll.

Either is is idiotic (how can you make a judgement on transfer activity right at the start of the transfer window when there was never any likelihood of getting players in before now)

Or it is cynically manipulative (set up to produce the desired answer in the hope of triggering off more Kenwright bashing).

I can think of 2 appropriate responses - either to ignore it, or to vote 'excited'.

Strange how that gets said every year. Last summer it was all "Spurs and Villa have spent big and will leave us behind" Last season was arguably our best in your generations lifetime. In that respect, "it's sound". If your already fuming about transfer activity - time to stop refreshing football news websites and get out there and ride a bike or something.

Thats probably the rightest thing wrote on here, it's embarrassing how this happens every year. We'll be sound, some of you really hate yourselves though I reckon. Cup's always half full here.

I feel the same way, but that is what I am getting from some other fans, I just wish we could get couple of signing in before we off to the US.

I am getting pretty annoy with those injure player comes back and they would be like new signing, the point is this year is different we have lost few more player than usual.

what do we have left? 4 goalkeeper, 6 defender (Jagielka (injure), Coleman never been used), 9 midfielder (Arteta (injure), Wallace never been used), 7 striker (Anichebe & Yakubu (injure), Agard, Baxter & Jutkiewicz never really feature for any length of time.

As it is we are most likely to have 4 goalkeeper, 4 defender, 7 midfielder & 2 striker available, apart from the keeper that's 13 outfield player we could used, as we like to used 4-5-1, we have no back-up for defender, we have 2 midfielder back-up and we have 1 striker back-up.

I simply can't image what will happen if we start the season with what we have at the moment, and there is no guarantee we have no more injuries during pre-season.

So, I hope we get some new signing coming in pretty soon!

I voted 'don't really care'.

It's the 4th of July for heaven's sake. Still plenty of time before the start of the season. Admittedly, if we haven't signed anyone by 31st August then have a hissy fit, but why now?! Like Danny said, get out on your bike or something, that's what I do :D

I don't think our starting line up is too far away from being spot on anyway when everyone's fit (I know I know, that never happens). So I don't think we need to panic. A couple of really clever Moyes signings plus a few freebies/cheap players to bulk the squad up and we'll be fine I think.

Surely your answer would be "Dont really care". Its not meant to be a Kenwrong bashing thread. I will make plenty of them later on in the window and they wont have hidden meanings. It was more to see how others are feeling.

Its just a poll, nothing sinister about it, was mainly to see if I was alone in worrying myself sick. I could go out and ride a bike, but I dont have 1. The kids have gone out on a canal trip, so im all alone, with redtube and no football to watch.

They're so precious about Bill it's unbelievable.

Voted excited, but am calm, absolutley certain players will come in.

Its the first week in July, i didnt and still dont expect anyone of seat shifting note in before mid July, even if there not, im not to pushed.

Though i know players will be in, im not to bothered we have an ace squad, and im confident in the players breaking through, if we got another Fellaini calibre player it would push that much more.

Doesnt matter who we sign, its about the players who lay for us- Our team plays every game at 98% every the majority of other teams play at about 87%, its all about who at everton not who could be coming.

Just read this on another forum and thought I would put it here;

Long time reader, first time poster here (sorry it’s a long one)

Owen going to Man Utd has got me thinking about the future of the prem and specifically finances again as this to me is a sign of them tightening their belts.

Although we are actually around 60m in debt according to a previous thread (sorry to start a new one), I have looked at the figures from the Guardian article posted a few months ago and sorted them (far too much time on my hands!). Makes interesting reading when put like this. (even if our reported figure is a little lower than we think it should be)

Debt Team
701m Chelsea
699m Manchester United
416m Arsenal
280m Liverpool
197m Fulham
147m Manchester City
106.2m Newcastle United
93m Middlesbrough
73m Aston Villa
69.2m Sunderland
66.4m Wigan Athletic
65m Tottenham Hotspur
57.7m Portsmouth
52m Bolton Wanderers
39m Everton
36m West Ham United
17m Blackburn Rovers
8.9m West Bromwich Albion
2.3m Stoke City
1m Hull City

Take away the 3 promoted teams last year and then just Blackburn and West Ham have less debt than us.

I know most people’s opinion of BK and I share the frustration of the majority, but we have to give the guy some credit for running a tight ship because if the [Poor language removed] ever does hit the fan with TV rights, we will be in a prime position to survive.

Don’t say it will never happen because history usually repeats itself and what goes up must come down. Setanta has gone under and there are now proposals from Ofcom to regulate the price at which Sky must wholesale its premium channels to other pay-TV platforms (thus potentially giving Sky a major costing headache).

Now I know the rights are tied up till 2013, but Sky has 3 billion worth of current liabilities (5.7bn in total) and made a 127 million loss in FY2008. It is on course for profit this year (we will know very soon), but as more people become unemployed and as people struggle to make ends meet, 36 quid for sky sports may well seem a lot of money and people may start cancelling. People are also wise to streaming online, pubs are shutting left, right and centre, advertising revenues will be down and cash conditions are only going to get a lot tougher for Sky.

I will be amazed if the next TV deal is anywhere near the 1 billion paid for the last one. On top of that, none of the major world stars seem to want to play in the Prem at the mo hence Utd having to sign Owen (Kaka, Benzema, Ribery Ronaldo have snubbed the prem etc). Chelsea and Man City also can’t seem to attract any real big names from outside the prem anymore either! (i.e. Turnbull, Sturridge, Taylor, Santa Cruz etc).

I honestly think we may be witnessing a peak for the premier league as a product. (Remember, what goes up, must come down). It doesn’t matter if we are bought by Sheik Unvac, Sheik Yerbubeez or Sheik Ratlenrol, it is still very difficult to attract top talent to this country as of now.

We may very well get pissed off with BK and get frustrated as hell with the lack of money and big signings, or the fact that we have a wage cap at 50k (I think), or the bullshit we are seemingly fed every year, but through all of this, we are doing it the right way. We have a brilliant manager, a great youth set up and something money can’t buy – team spirit. We keep progressing almost every year and we are the best of the rest and the only ones to close that gap in the recent past.

Regardless of who we bring in this summer, we have so much to be positive about and we are a lot better prepared for the future than most. I think we may bring in around 4 – 5 players this summer and whoever they are, however much they cost, and in however many instalments we are paying for them, let’s get behind them, the rest of the team, the manager and (even) the chairman and remain positive about next season because we are the envy of many clubs that are a lot richer than us.

No sense in beating yourself up over the lack of any transfer activity, I, you, we, don't make the decisions and see who makes their way to Goodison, and granted last summer was frustrating and even now a year on any news or possible targets haven't exactly quickened the pulse, I never expected Owen to end up here, and was more than a bit surprised at the little so and so having his swansong at Old Trafford.

It's been a more than impressive season gone by, and hopefully Moyes can make an addition or two before the end of the close season, and shape a team ready again to challenge for honors when the traps are up.

Hate to break it to you, but it doesn't quite work like that.

Villa ( my club ) are in debt to themselves. Chelsea are as well, and probably many more.
There is a massive difference between being in debt to others, and being in debt to yourself. It's basically a way of dodging taxes and more.
