ex rangers clearance

Thee's a year between a provisional licence being issued and the full registration of any of these players. Right now Rangers/Sevco/Newco/Whatever are all over the place organisationally. I suspect things will settle with them and they'll make some stab at getting compensation. Southampton have just coughed up £800,000 for Davis to avoid the controversy.

Yeah, I saw that regarding Davis. Just waiting for the news we can't pay a compensation few now...

My understanding is that if 30 days hasn't elepased since the time an international request was subitted, then he wont have that provisional clearance to play...only games behind closed doors. Ness has his because the required period to wait for the prvisional registration has timed out.

The wording you just provided does not state anything about a time period having to elapse. It merely states that provisional international clearance will automatically be provided by FIFA if after the time has elapsed the Association currently holding the player's registration does not issue a transfer certificate or that they do not provide a reason as to why they have not provided the certificate. I am fairly sure that reasons have been given by SFA and so the limitation period does not apply. FIFA have taken the decision to allow for the provisional clearance of the four players while they investigate the situation and determine what should happen and if necessary the penalty that must be paid in relation to a breach of the rules (there is probably another section in their rules that allows for this but I cannot be bothered to trawl for it). In the meanwhile, the players have been granted the provisional transfer certificate and so are free to play for their new clubs until the investigation comes to an end and an outcome is determined. Naismith will be free to play today

That wasn't the case according to the lawyer acting for the players just a few days ago. It's not the major point, anyway. Play today or next week. No matter. They'll all remain on a provisional registration for one year and that can be withdrawn by FIFA at anytime if the SFA present a successfully argued case that they were/are right to withold ITC.

It'd be better to pay up some cash now as Southampton have done...which is only what would have happened if these players had transferred over to Sevco and triggered their get out clauses. Instead, there's at least an uncertainty hanging over the situation. Typical short-term, short-sightedness.

Was always going to end this way really, wasnt it, i can imagine the flury going on behind the scenes with clubs and the newco.

I doubt this is an indiscriminate gesture for the "integrity of the game".

I think a few of us discussed this in the signing thread , the worst case scenario is this moderate ' Webster ruling ' type payment . I'm not sure we'll be offering any money just yet but if rangers need to pay counsel they'll probably be happy to settle for a moderate figure but everton being everton I'm not sure we'll be too anxious to settle .

Southampton breaking ranks must have pissed off EFC. Stoke, Norwich.

I think they will have to be honest , 'maybe' they'd been in talks before he split from rangers ? If they had they'd be leaving themselves open to heavy criticism if they hadn't offered the quick settlement .

And if we paid them a fee when we're not legally obliged to you'd say the board are incompetent.
