YEEEEEEEEEEEEEES. There is no comparison between a spud that has been grown in your own garden, dug up and scoffed within the hour. The taste is something else. You have to have some nice butter and sason it properly though!
I'm fortunate that I grow most of my own veg because I have a very big garden. Fresh spuds are my favourite.

Blimey Reidy, can't believe you've got me in a spud frenzy now!

I haven't got a garden :( mind you even if i did i don't know anything about gardening so wouldn't grow my own anyway.

I'll stick to frozen southern fried curly fries.

reidettes should get into a frenzy when i mention my spuds.
they have to be handled gently and completely drained for the maximium taste sensation.

A potato's a potato right?

Shocked at that mate.

Potatoes vary hugely. Fluffy or waxy; white, yellow, red, all sorts.

Also as Blue Lass says, the kind you buy in the shops are rubbish compared to anything you (or a relative) can grow. Commercial growers are only interested in highest yields. Home growers are more concerned with flavour.

My broad beans are coming up! Now theres a vegetable.

Don't think it's that uncommon.

I know a few veggies that don't eat vegetables. Just cheese and bread and chips. I know one that won't even touch cold food

I think a lot of vegetarians are just fussy eaters.

My dad used to grow his own spuds but i don't remember ever noticing the difference at home when eating potatoes.

Might have to do some potato research in the next few weeks to see if i can notice the difference between different varieties.
I do usually buy the cheapest crappy supermarket ones though but theres a little fruit and veg shop not far from me so i'll see what they have.

Just tried Aunt Bessie's mashed potato for the first time and it gets my thumbs up. It burnt my saucepan a touch but still, yummy tastic. (y)

You won't really be able to buy any of the really nice varieties that I get from all the olds at the allotment. Proper old varieties, that don't give as much of a crop so aren't grown for shops, but taste bang on.

Those guys have all sorts going on. Tried eggs that have been laid just a few minutes earlier (rather than lying in a supermarket warehouse for days/weeks) recently, couldn't believe the difference.

Peas straight out of the pod, mmmmmm.
